SVCC is built by God, upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, and with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone.
We are joined together by union with Christ, we are growing, and we are a dwelling place of God by his Spirit.

WHY?…
TODAY: Is There Any Good News?
Opening Scripture:

Restoration is Promised

God’s punishment is coming to the unrepentant but because of God’s promise to Abraham there will be restoration
Genesis 17:4 ESV
4 “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations.

Five Promises of Amos 9:11-12

I will restore
I will repair
I will restore (again)
I will build
I will do these things

A Promised Messiah

Amos 9:11 (ESV)
11 “In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old,

No Israel, No Jesus

JAMES QUOTES AMOS:
Acts 15:16–18 (ESV)
16 “ ‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it,
17 that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things
18 known from of old.’
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Conclusion/Reflection:

Restoration is Now and Not Yet

Romans 5:9 (ESV)
9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ephesians 2:12–13 (ESV)
12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Revelation 16:1 (ESV)
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath of God.”
Revelation 21:4 (ESV)
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
How do we Live in the in between?

Live by embracing the tension

Example:

Live Spirit-filled

Example:

Live Spirit-formed

Talk It Over
How can we help people to understand that our God is not only approachable, loving and forgiving, but that he is also a powerful Lord who created and controls everything, and is so holy that he cannot look upon sin? (See Deut. 32:4; Ps. 46; Isa. 45:20–25; Hab. 1:12–17; Heb. 12:29; Rev. 5:1–10.)
What happens when the conscience is suppressed? (See Exod. 7–11; Rom. 1:24–28; Eph. 4:19; 1 Tim. 4:2.)
How, and why, should our behavior reflect God’s holiness? (Study 1 Peter 1:13–22.)
What should be the Christian’s attitude towards the Second Coming of the Lord? How should the knowledge of this affect the way that we live? (See 1 Cor. 1:7 and 2 Peter 3:10–13.)
