“In Christ”

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 ωστε ει τις εν Χριστω καινη κτισις τα αρχαια παρηλθεν ιδου γεγονεν καινα τα παντα
No periods or commas in greek text. Ellipse a fragment statement assuming other words. He is is in italics.
We are living in a New Creation our position is brand new and our experience is daily discipleship growing in the image of Christ
pos truth translation could be “in Christ, there is a new creation
It is critical to understand our position in order to correctly relate to the God which saved us
All things - Colossians 1:13–18 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”

IV. Propitiation

God is satisfied with the atoning death of Christ. It has made it possible for the Father to forgive and have a relation with us
The God of the O.T. was the God of wrath, fierce and angry - Jesus’ sacrifice has turned away His wrath.
Joshua 7:26 “Then they raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. So the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.”
Psalm 85:3 “You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.”
Isaiah 12:1 “And in that day you will say: “O Lord, I will praise You; Though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.”
Isaiah 57:16 “For I will not contend forever, Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would fail before Me, And the souls which I have made.”
Ezekiel 16:42So I will lay to rest My fury toward you, and My jealousy shall depart from you. I will be quiet, and be angry no more.”
Hosea 14:4 ““I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.
Romans 3:25 “whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,”
1 John 2:2 “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
God of the N.T. is the God of Love
God did this Himself, we did nothing to turn His wrath. God deals with believers in love. Even the world is experiencing for the most part a God of Love, but that will end with the taking of the Restrainer.

V. Sin’s covered by the Atoning Blood

Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’”
Isaiah 53:4–6 “Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
1 Peter 2:21–25 “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
Romans 4:25 “who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.”
Our sins are covered - He doesn’t see our sins He sees the blood of His Son
Atonement Kipur
Exodus 30:10 “And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.””
Hebrews 10:11–12 “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,”
Hebrews 10:14 “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”
Result is Peace
Colossians 1:20 “and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

VI Judged “In Christ”

This positional truth deals with the judgment of the OSN
We are joined to Christ in the Finished Work
Crucified with Christ

1 Peter 2:24 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”
Buried with Christ
Romans 6:4 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Colossians 2:12 “buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”
Raised with Christ
Romans 6:4 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Walk in the newness of life
Romans 6:4 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

VII Free from the Law

We are dead to the Law
Romans 7:4 “Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.”
