The World Hated Jesus (v.18)

The world did not like Jesus. In fact, the world killed Jesus. The bible teaches us that the world is in darkness, it loves darkness, but Jesus is light.

You belong to Jesus (v.19-21)

The world is defaulted to hate. The world has not known, experienced, felt, or practiced the love that God offers in Christ. So, when the world encounters Jesus in real way there are two responses: one to accept then reciprocate or to reject then hate. Jesus says, therefore, because the cause of the hate begins with Jesus, but hate for Jesus is then targeted on those who belong to Jesus.

Don’t believe me. Try it out. See if the things that set you apart as a Christian go over well with you worldly friends and family.

If you were of the world, it would love you (are you offensive to the world?) But, it hates you because you were chosen OUT of the world.

Jesus doesn't give a promise of it getting easier to deal with hates. He doesn’t promise that in this life there wont be problems. What he does promise is that I’ll send some help!
