Ephesians 4:1–7 (ESV)
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
As we prepare to take communion today, I would like for each of us to really consider the great gift of grace given to us by Jesus Christ. We all (hopefully) know about Jesus’ great gift of forgiveness for our sins on the cross, but scripture indicates to us here that forgiveness, though it would’ve been enough, was not all that Jesus did for us.
Christ unified us! He made a world full of very different, sometimes very difficult people into one body. One body, one spirit, one hope. One faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. As you partake of the elements today, really consider the deep and meaningful connection made available to you, a connection to each other and to the God of the universe.

Mark 14:22–25 (ESV)
And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.”
And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
