Habakkuk 3

Habakkuk 3:17–19 ESV
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.
This book is one of my favorite Old Testament books. The outline for the whole book is that Habakkuk complains and the Lord answers then he complains again and the Lord answers again then Habakkuk prays and rejoices ending the book with this passage.
Through the series of complaints and answers Habakkuk realizes that God is in complete control so he needs to quit being so concerned with everything and rejoice in the Lord no matter what because he is in control of everything.
How often do we have this outlook on life? The plants yielding no food and the flocks being cut off could be said today that though the stock market crashes, Though there is an economic depression, though the grocery stores are empty, still I will rejoice in the Lord and take joy in the God of my salvation.
This level of trust in the Lord that Habakkuk came around to is something that we should strive towards. When you trust in the providence of the Lord with your whole being the happenings of the world won’t phase you, the struggles of life may hurt but you know know who is in control and you rest in that. When nothing is going your way you know that it is all a part of his plan.
Through your life work towards this level of trust in the Lord. Trust that he has everything under control and trust that whatever happens to you is all a part of his plan and you should have joy because of that.
