intro

Story about carrying weight and then letting it off.
Some of you may be carrying some weight, or some shame. Some of you may be carrying something heavier…Well, Jesus died in the hope you would let that go today.
Hebrews 12:2 ESV
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
DESPISING THE SHAME - He DESPISES The shame that you carry. His death buys you life. His resurrection gives you victory over that weight.
Hebrews 12:3 ESV
Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
We are told to do this in rememberance of Him. To remember that He died, so you never have to. He died so that you have an opportunity to approach the father, to lay your shame, your guilt and your sin at the foot of the cross.
As we enjoy this meal together, let us remember, that Jesus, despises the shame you carry and is inviting you this morning, to drop it.
