Greeting, Opening Prayer, and Scripture Reading

2 Timoteo 4:7–8 CSB
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.
2 Timoteo 4:7–8 NBLA
He peleado la buena batalla, he terminado la carrera, he guardado la fe.
Thank you pastor Client for leading us in prayer.
For those that do not know me, my name is Abraham Armenta, pastor at Iglesia Bautista Agua Viva.
The reason for our gathering today is to honor the life of a great man - Daniel Ozuna, and at the same time, we raise our gaze towards heaven, to seek the God that Daniel Ozuna served. God will be our comfort and our deliverer today.
Thank you once again for coming to show your support to the Ozuna family. Some of you knew Daniel Ozuna as:
Mr. Ozuna / Don Ozuna o Don Daniel
Others knew him simply as “Dan”.
There are many of us who knew him as: Pastor Daniel
Which is how I will refer to him throughout our time together. It is my own way to continue to honor the impact that he had in our congregation’s life.
Those even closer to him knew him as:
Uncle Dan
Grandpa
Dad
…but there is a very special woman, his partner in life and ministry, Brigida Ozuna, who knew him as “Daniel”.
Hermana Brigida, once again we are very sorry for your loss, and we will commit to come alongside you in coming days to provide support and encouragement and pray the God will continue to comfort your heart.
Pastor Daniel’s life can be summed up in the words of scripture. The Bible said that when Job died, he died full of days (Job 42:17).
A life full of days is a life well lived.
A life lived to fullest.
Such was the life of Pastor Daniel.

Euology

Today, we will hear from the grandchildren, who will share with us a eulogy they have written to honor their grandfather. Thank you for your hard work on this as it gives us a peak into your grandfather’s life and it is a wonderful way for you to honor him.
We will hear it read in English and Spanish.

Special Song

Pastor Daniel Ozuna had a love for good food, especially homemade flour tortillas.
His eyes would light up when you mentioned the word “trucks”.
But there was another passion in his life which he used to the glory of God. Rachel, his daughter, will share a glimpse into that aspect of his life.

Sharing Time

At this time, we give you the opportunity to honor Pastor Daniel Ozuna.
The reason why this place is full - is because he impacted so many people in his immediate and extended family, friends and neighbors, and many Christian believers in and outside of the Treasure Valley.
We invite you to come up to the microphone and share a memory, or a word of comfort and encouragement to the family. Please be brief (1-2 minutes) so that we can hear from as many folks as possible.
SHARING TIME
Thank you to all who shared this afternoon. It is clearly that we are hurting from such a great loss.
In times of pain we look for a source of hope.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we look to the Bible to find such hope and comfort.

Gospel Message

At the beginning of the service, Pastor Clint Henry read from Paul’s final letter to his faithful disciple Timothy.
Church tradition tells us that Paul would be executed for his faith in Jesus Christ.
Pastor Daniel would often identify with the apostle Paul in how God radically changed his life to become not a follower of Jesus Christ and a man dedicated to share with others the good news of the Gospel.
What will bring us comfort today?
We look to Paul’s words…towards the end of his life.

He finished well

Paul the apostle was faithful until the end.
He went from place to place preaching that Jesus Christ was God’s answer to human sin.
He preached that salvation and forgiveness of sins can only be obtained through faith in Jesus Christ.
He was a faithful witness to this message, even in the face of death.
Pastor Daniel fits this description:
He fought the good fight
He finished his race
He kept the faith - he did not waiver in his convictions and principles, as a father, as a husband, as a grandfather, as a brother, as a friend - but most of all as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
This does not mean he was perfect.
After all, we are human and will continue to sin on this side of heaven.
But, he believed that through Jesus Christ he had received a new life and a new hope that when he finished his earthly race, he would receive his eternal reward.

He will receive a reward

The Christian Faith believes in the unbelievable claim that although a believer in Jesus Christ finishes their earthly race - we believe this is not the end.
Juan 11:25 CSB
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.
Juan 11:25 NBLA
On many occasions, that great Billy Graham said: Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
Where is Pastor Daniel at this time?
He is in God’s presence.
He is before his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, safe and secure.
He has gone into eternity…but that is not all.
You see, the Bible tells us that there are indeed heavenly rewards.
We are saved by faith and not by works.
Nevertheless, God promises heavenly rewards to every believer.
Paul describes one of these rewards as the crown of righteousness.
You see, for the Christian believer, eternity is not limited to an everlasting existence before the presence of God. Eternity also means unspeakable, unimaginable heavenly rewards that will further increase our joy and happiness, which will never end.
…and who will these heavenly rewards?
Paul says that the heavenly reward comes from “the righteous Judge”, the Lord Jesus Christ.
You would expect a judge to hand out sentences of condemnation.
…but it will not be so for those who, as Pastor Dan, surrender their life, by faith, in Jesus Christ:
Romanos 8:1 NVI

He invites us to follow in his footsteps

I cannot end this message without an invitation.
My pastor, pastor Daniel Ozuna, would be very disappointed if I ended the message here.
My pastor would want you to understand the last part verse 8:
2 Timoteo 4:8 CSB
There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.
2 Timoteo 4:8 NBLA
The experience of eternal salvation and a heavenly reward is not only for Paul the apostle.
The experience of eternal salvation and a heavenly reward is not only for the believers you read about in the Bible.
Who is eternal salvation and a heavenly reward for? - for all those who long / desire / await for Jesus Christ to appear.
Pastor Daniel would want us to understand:
Do not leave this place without hope.
Do not leave this place heartbroken or in dispair.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, trust in him, believe that he died for your sins, believe in the gospel that pastor Daniel preached for many years.
Pastor Daniel would want you to believe that Jesus Christ is a savior to sinners like you and me…
Who will forgive our many sins
…and who will give us the gift of eternal life and many heavenly rewards.
Pastor Daniel would ask you?
Do you love Jesus Christ?
Do you long for his second coming? Do you believe he is coming back one day?
Do you believe that he has the power to raise the dead from the grave?
If you do…he would encourage you to remain faithful until the end.
If you do not…he would certainly invite you to believe.
Believe that Jesus Christ died to forgive our sins.
Believe that although one day we will die, we will live again.
Believe that all the tears, all the pain, all the heartbreak we wil experience in this life, including the last six days, all those tears will be wiped away.
Follow Pastor Daniel’s example of what it means to follow Jesus Christ, what it means to finish the race and keep the faith.
LET’S PRAY
Our Father, once again thank you for providing a source of hope in the midst of such pain.
In a gathering such as this, there are many who share in this hope - who have put their faith upon Jesus Christ, may thay be strengthened in their faith so that they may finish well, and keep the faith.
…there are those who are struggling to believe…may you overcome that struggle so that they may also enter into the hope we have in Jesus.
…and there are those who have truly believed this message for the first time in their life. May you watch over them as they seek to grow in their faith in Jesus.
Oh Father, we pray that you continue to comfort the Ozuna family, comfort all those gathered here…and that through your comfort we may be given the gift of faith:
That we may believe in the savior that Pastor Dan preached for so many years.
That we may recieve forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and a heavenly reward.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Porque Él Vive / Because He Lives

We simply cannot end this service without signing about the hope in the resurrection.
We believe that Jesus Christ died, was burried, and placed in a cold dark tomb.
But…that was not the end.
Death could not hold him back - for on the third day he rose from the dead.
…and just as Jesus Christ rose from the dead, one day, the trumpet will sound and the dead in Christ will be raised from the dead.
Pastor Daniel would want us to sing - one of his favorite hymns - Because He Live.
This hymn proclaims the glorious truth regarding the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It proclaims that we live because he was raised from the dead.
It is a faithful statement that the risen Lord Jesus gives us hope even in the face of death.
V2: God sent his son, they called him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He bled and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove…
…my Savior lives
C: Because he lives I can face tomorrow
Because he lives all fear is gone
Because I know he holds the future
And life is worth the living just…
…because he lives

Family Statement

At this time, I would like to regard a statement from the Ozuna family:
On Behalf of the Ozuna family, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you.
Knowing that Dad is watching, he is likely overwhelmed with how many people, local and afar, are here in attendance or watching online. Words cannot express how amazed we are to hear the stories of how Dad has touched their lives throughout his time in the ministry. Whether it was a word of comfort, advice, or wisdom, he was always willing to help when called upon.
Legacy is the long-lasting impact of a person’s life and actions. Dad’s wisdom, guidance, knowledge and advice is the legacy he leaves. We know he will continue to leave an ongoing impression on so many. Dad made it clear, that family is important. These past few days have been difficult, but they have reminded us of this truth.
We would like to thank everyone for your support during this time. We appreciate the prayers, food, and countless messages of support and encouragement. Please continue to visit or check in on Mom in the months that follow.él e
A special thank you to our local family and friends for organizing and bringing food for the dinner that will take place today after the service.
**pause**
Today is a celebration of life, so let’s try to focus on the happy memories of him and know that he is in heaven with the Lord.

Closing Prayer and Dismissal

As we conclude today’s service, I am reminded that Pastor Daniel had many friends and partners in the ministry. Thank you to all his ministry partners that were able to attend in person or via the livestream. Know that you were a constant source of encouragement as you partnered with Pastor Daniel to build up God’s Kingdom.
Amongst these partners we have David and Colette Hardesty. Thank you for being with us today.
Brother David will lead us in a closing prayer. After the prayer, we will remain in our seats, as the pallbearers take their places and exit the buiding.
