Revelation 1:12
Intro: He is Revelation chapter 1 we see the Lord Jesus revealed in a way that He has never been seen before. God uses the Apostle John to reveal the glory of Christ just as John sees Him.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
In Rev. 1:12 John identifies Jesus first as the ______________. Vs. 12 is in response to what John heard in verse 10-11, where he hears a voice, which he responds to by turning to see “the voice”. No one can see a voice, unless that voice is a person.
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
Voices do not ______________ unless that voice is a person.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
That voice is non other than the Lord _____________!
Read: Psalm 29:1-11
Just like John in Revelation 1, the voice of the Lord that is described is first heard.
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
The Psalmist, speaks of a ________________________ in connection with the voice of the Lord. (vs. 3) I am always amazed at the rumbling of the storm off in the distance. Often we are warned of the extend of its power, by the sound we hear off in the distance.
The Psalmist then describes the power and majesty of the voice of the Lord and he details in great description what he sees. The effects of the voice become visible as the storm crosses the Mediterranean Sea in descent upon the mountains, forests, and wilderness. We see all of nature tremble and bow to His glory!
We see in the first two verses of this Psalm the word ___________. It is not because man is to declare God as anything but because it is already His. It shows the unwillingness of man to give God what is due His name…
This Psalm ends (vs. 9-11) The care and tenderness of God towards the beasts of His marvelous creation turns to His praise, as the care which he hath and the tenderness of His care of the fowls and beasts is remembered by those who believe. (Mt. 6:25-34) When the power, glory, and majesty are heard and seen, when they are realized. Then His temple is filled with those that speak of his glory!
Read: Matthew 7:24-29
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
Closing: God has revealed His glorious Son to us! He shows Him in great power and strength! God didn’t reveal Him to us for us not to see Him. Do not wait until you lay eyes upon His glory to offer Him honor and praise that is due. Do not wait to see it! We can see it today through the eyes of faith!
The Psalmist sings this glorious song of praise and adoration during the tempest! What an example!
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Give the glory due His name!
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
