Memories The Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:23–26)

Quiet thoughts come floating down And settle softly to the ground Like golden autumn leaves around my feet I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories Sweet memories] Presses between the pages of my mind.
Memories can be brought to remembrance through

Example a Picture Book.......
There was a Story of grandmother dying, and before slipping away she calls the children, and the great grand children and great great grandchildren around the bed and handing each one of them a photograph saying, “Here are pictures of myself; I am going to leave you, you won’t see me again for a little while, but I would like each of you to take one of these pictures. I wish you would cherish it and from time to time take it out and look at it, and as you do, remember me.”
Would it be a task to do that in response to the request?
I don’t believe it would and you would be delighted again and again to take down that picture and as you looked at it, you would say, “There is the one who loved me and is now gone from me.
That is the place the Lord’s Supper has for us, a time to remember Him and what Has done for us at the Cross.

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

1 Cor. 11:23: “That the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread.” Why does the apostle slip in the expression, “In which He was betrayed,”
It was place there for the purpose to appeal to our hearts, reminding us that in “that very night”
we see the heart of our Lord and expression of His Love Rom5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
It was a night the Lord would know to the fullest the untrustworthiness, the wickedness, the treachery, of the human heart, and show us the full measure a continual expression of His love in giving Himself as a sacrifice for sin on our behalf.
Those who have been redeemed by His precious blood the Lord’s Supper is given. It is not for the unsaved, it is not for those who are hoping to be saved;
it is for those who who know Christ as Lord and Saviour. To them the Lord spoke.....
The New King James Version (Chapter 11)
24 “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
This morning we declare with one voice, with one heart that His death was a sacrifice, that He died for sinners, that He shed His blood for sinners.
