John 8:31–36 NASB 2020
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’ ?” 34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.

The Choice

Those who believe
Those who continue in (Christ) My word (Lifestyle)
Known by your testimony/walk/belief

The Conditional Result

Continuation in His Word
Proves discipleship
Proves dedication
Proves desperate need for truth to be embedded into our core
James 1:21–25 NASB 2020
21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does.
Proves our lifestyle of servanthood
2 Timothy 2:15 NASB 2020
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
2 Timothy 3:14–17 NASB 2020
14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.

The Crisis (Aloof to Christ and our current state/standing)

We doubt Christ power to deliver us from sins grip yet believe he can save us from eternal damnation is an oxymoronic idea..

The Contractual truth (Total freedom)

Truth has a process (Steps)
James 4:7–8 NASB 2020
7 Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Truth offers a warranty
1 Peter 5:6–10 NASB 2020
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 having cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares about you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
The truth Sanctifies and Unites us.
John 17:17–21 NASB 2020
17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. 18 Just as You sent Me into the world, I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, so that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. 20 “I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word, 21 that they may all be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

The Cost of our Freedom

It surpasses our eternal destination
It supports us in our daily walk
It strengthen our testimony of having a lifestyle of renunciation over our past
It strengthens our testimony of having a lifestyle of repentance over our sin bondage
It strengthens our testimony of having a lifestyle of restoration through the Messianic authority of Christ.

The Cost to us...

Faith the size of a mustard seed...
Matthew 17:20 NASB 2020
20 And He said to them, “Because of your meager faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Faith in the proper source of His Holy Spirit can reveal and change the situation.
Faith motivate our victory as we run our sojourn.
Hebrews 11:1 NASB 2020
1 Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen.
Hebrews 12:1 NASB 2020
1 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Faith produces God’s pleasure and deliverance
Hebrews 11:6 NASB 2020
6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.
The Cost is the sweat equity of just saying…I believe everything God has for me is true and trust the Bible as it is. Because Jesus paid for the totality of all our sin and the process of our deliverance.
