What is Prayer?  It is simply communication or Dialogue with God our Father and creator.  Now
there are many different types of prayer, but the focus is foundational here.  There were some
interesting guys in the bible who asked about Prayer too.  So if you feel inadequate or
intimidated when people talk about Prayer its OK.
Prayer can be us asking for God to solve a problem for us, we often are desiring something from
Him. God these are the ways I would like for you to run my life……..

Mathew 6:5-8 CEV

5 “When you pray, don’t be like those show-offs who love to
stand up and pray in the meeting places and on the street corners. They do this just to look good.
I can assure you that they already have their reward. 6 When you pray, go into a room alone and
close the door. Pray to your Father in private. He knows what is done in private, and he will
reward you. 7 When you pray, don’t talk on and on as people do who don’t know God. They think
God likes to hear long prayers. 8 Don’t 39 be like them. Your Father knows what you need before
you ask.”
Jesus is explaining that this is the way and manner, which was acceptable before, but now
God’s expectation has changed.  Before it was outward, now he is turning inward.  God is never
surprised by what you are experiencing.
God is wanting to connecting with us inwardly, not just though what we experience
externally.
So what is the point and purpose of Praying?
To build this relationship with the Father, if you are not praying or have not developed a
healthy habit of regular time to meet with Him to talk, discuss, complain.  Then our knowledge
of who we say we love, adore, and respect is very shallow.
Jesus assumes his followers will go to prayer, it was not something that happens
once a month, but a regularity of lifestyle.
All relationships are based on communication, if communication breaks down it
won’t be long before the communication breaks down on the other end.
We should pursue rewards in prayer, because we can achieve them.  We should be
asking for prayer because we want to more effectively serve God and love people.

Ephesians 2:18

Ephesians 2:18 NLT
18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
All members of the trinity are involved in prayer. It is multi dimensional communication
Andrew Murry-a ministry statesmen and theologian from South Africa during the 1880-early
1900’s said “the power of prayer depend almost entirely upon our apprehension of who it is to
whom we pray.  The God I am praying to is that big!”
It takes light 8 hrs :20min to travel from the sun to earth, it takes over five hours for light to travel to

Jesus is the door, explained makes no difference if you have not believed in who that
