What is Anagnosis?
What is Anagnosis?
Anagnosis is reading something out loud, usually publically.
Anagnosis is different from preaching or teaching.
Until I come, give your attention to public reading, exhortation, and teaching.
After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, you can speak.”
Teaching means helping people to understand.
Preaching means calling people to action.
Anagnosis means letting the scripture speak for itself (though it can be combined with preaching)
Anagnosis is a key spiritual discipline of God’s people.

Why practice anagnosis?
Why practice anagnosis?
It’s what the Bible is designed for.
“So when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place” (let the reader understand),
After this letter has been read at your gathering, have it read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.
It helps us remember.
Scripture has the power to change our hearts and lives.
For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
