A city built on “shaky” ground.

Earthquakes and volcanoes.

The external pressure from the Jews.

This is the main issue for this church. The jews were not only opposing them but making life very difficult. Remember the early church did not initially view itself as separate from the jewish faith but its fulfillment and true expression of the faith.

God is near the broken and hurting churches.

This is not broken from doctrinal drift nor self-inflicted wounds of pride and division. It is those who are hurting because of their faith in Jesus. It is not for those churches who separate from others but those who have been separated because of Jesus.

The promise of Jesus.

We cannot miss the promise and words of Jesus.

The church was on mission for Jesus.

What does the Gospel look like? What does it look like for a church to be on mission? Important questions with even more important answers. It was the doorway for the Gospel in Asia.

The door of the Gospel & salvation is open.

We must not miss this point, at least in my opinion.

A call to remain faithful.

Even though they have little strength Jesus calls them to continue on.
