We are going to take a small break from We Are The Church and talk about something else
Rollerblading down the hill at camp, and having no control
Right now the world is sitting on the edge of their seats including the Church,
Some people maybe feeling scared, others might have anticipation, and many people might be feeling angry
Whatever you are feeling its so important that we remember one beyond important thing God IS IN CONTROL
The surprise attack did not catch God of guard
Many times we get angry when this happens and IT is ok, as long as it is a righteous anger but it can lead to fear because we do not have control
We all want to be in control
When we try to hold on to control or let the fact that we can’t do anything get to us it takes away from God, it does not drive us closer
This will lead us to down a rabbit hole that will bring fear, anxiety, and depression, and for some even bitterness.
This does not just stop with what is going on in Israel but even in our everyday life
WE have to trust God
proverbs 3:5-6
Proverbs 3:5–6 NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We have to trust God
We don’t see the whole picture
Psalm 37:1–13 NIV
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
This passage is I believe the perfect passage to talk about today
When bad things happen, when evil people do things what are we to do
First

Do Not Fret

The word here in the Hebrew is (Her-ra)
it means become angry, but more then that to Burn,
An example of another place this this word was used is when Cain became angry with his brother and murdered him.
We can’t let our anger burn, and that is why it says, “It leads only to evil”

Trust In The Lord

Proverbs 3:5–6 NIV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
When times are uncertain and things feel like they are out of control, we need to trust God
We do not see everything, we don’t know everything, so we need to trust in Him that does.
This life for us seems so long, but in reality it is so short in comparison to eternity, and God knows it all.
I would not trust a personal trainer to build me a jet plane, but I would trust an Aeronautical engineer, why, because They know everything there is to know about keeping a plane in the air.
God knows everything, so we should be trusting in Him.

Do Good

We cannot allow others to dictate who we are and what we do,
1 Peter 3:9 NIV
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
We are called to Love, not seek revenge
Romans 12:19 NIV
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.
God will take care of those who do evil, that is not our job
Galatians 6:9 NIV
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
But why do good?
Matthew 5:16 NIV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
When we do good, it gives God the glory, it sets us apart, and shows the love of God in hopes that those who do evil may come to know Christ and repent.

Be Still

In this Psalm the word for still is (Dum-mom) it has the meaning of ceasing/ being motionless, and when followed up with waiting patiently.
In these moments it is easy to talk a lot about what WE want to do, or try to figure things out but we have to be still and wait for God to show us what to do.
While we are waiting, we should be praying
One of the best things we can do in moments of anger, anxiety, depression is pray.
Pray for those being hurt
pray that those who are hurting others would find Jesus and turn from the wicked ways
Pray that God would work in this time
Pray that God would work on our hearts and help us not turn to an ungodly anger
Pray that god would work through us to help lead others that might be going through a hard time with this find the hope that can only be found in Christ
