Preach the Gospel

Romans 1:16–17 CSB
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.
The Christian message rightly understood means this: The God who by the word of the gospel proclaims men free, by the power of the gospel actually makes them free. To accept less than this is to know the gospel in word only, without its power.3
A. W. Tozer

The Gospel is Power

What is the Gospel?
The Gospel was a promise of God
Genesis 3:15 CSB
I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
The promise of the seed. Notice that blows of the Fight
You will bruise His heal (Strike His Head)- The promised seed would suffer a blow, but would deal a crushing strike to the enemy.
Jesus would be wounded for us but would deal the crushing blow to Satan
Isaiah 53:4–6 CSB
Yet he himself bore our sicknesses, and he carried our pains; but we in turn regarded him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds. We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us all.
The blow suffered was for our sins- The Gospel is God response to sin.
The cross that Jesus boar was the crushing blow that was paid so that we could have peace,.
1 John 2:2 CSB
He himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.
When sin entered the world God proclaimed the Good News of Salvation- at the very moment!
2 Corinthians 5:21 CSB
He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
The Gospel

The Gospel is the Revelation of Righteousness

What is the Righteousness of God that is revealed in the Gospel?
2 Peter 1:1 CSB
Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ: To those who have received a faith equal to ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

‘the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ,’ is the righteous dealing of God with sin and with sinners on the ground of the death of Christ.

In the Gospel we see how God deals with sin and with the sinner- The Cross
Romans 5:8 CSB
But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
What Does God do when sin enters the world? Proclaims the Gospel
How does God deal with Sin? With an act that displays His love
John 3:16 CSB
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
The quality of what God was willing to give, speaks of the quality of Love that He wanted to display for sinners.
1225Saints are so righteous in Jesus Christ that they are more righteous than Adam was before he fell, for he had but a creature righteousness, and they have the righteousness of the Creator. He had a righteousness which he lost, but believers have a righteousness which they can never lose, an everlasting righteousness.—28.536

The Result of the Gospel

The Power of the Gospel in you!
The result of the Gospel is SALVATION-
the subject of the Gospel-
It is from God (Mark 1:14)
it speaks of His Son (Romans 1:1-3)
It reveals God’s Grace (Acts 20:24)
it is salvation (Eph 1:13)
it is the gospel peace (Eph 6:15)
Gospel- euangelion (εὐαγγέλιον, 2098)
The Good news

In the NT it denotes the “good tidings” of the kingdom of God and of salvation through Christ, to be received by faith, on the basis of His expiatory death, His burial, resurrection, and ascension,

The War is won and Jesus is the Victor!
Just as Tozer said, “The Gospel proclaims us free, and is the power to set us free.”
1 John 3:8 (CSB)
The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.
The Power of the Gospel sets us free fr0m the oppression of the devil and make us alive
It is the power of the Gospel that takes us from death to life
Ephesians 2:4–5 CSB
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!
I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it has taken me from death to life-
It has broken my chains
it has pulled me out of the pit
I am not ashamed of the gospel because my life is a revelation of the Righteousness that God has displayed through His act of Love for ME
Paul says that He is slave of Jesus- Romans 1:1
Romans 1:1 CSB
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God—
Paul says I am doulos-

“one who gives himself up to the will of another,” e.g., 1 Cor. 7:23; Rom. 6:17, 20, and became the most common and general word for “servant,” as in Matt. 8:9, without any idea of bondage.

The Apostle Paul is saying
That he had been formerly a “bondslave” of satan
That now having been bought by Christ, he was now a willing slave bond to His master
Paul knew the value of the Gospel- the priced paid for Him and was willing to be a slave to the one who had given His very life to set Paul free
Sometimes I go to God and say, “God, if Thou dost never answer another prayer while I live on this earth I will still worship Thee as long as I live and in the ages to come for what Thou hast done already.” God’s already put me so far in debt that if I were to live one million millenniums I couldn’t pay Him for what He’s done for me.1

The Charge

Your life is a testimony of the Gospel- Don’t ever shy away of the power of the Gospel that has been displayed in you
Preach the Gospel, cause your life is a testimony to the power of the Gospel to transform.
Preach the Gospel because your life it a living sermon illustration to the Righteousness of God that is revealed in the Gospel.
1070Preach the gospel, the gates of hell shake. Preach the gospel, prodigals return. Preach the gospel to every creature, it is the Master’s mandate and the Master’s power to everyone who believes.—10.23
Charles Spurgeon
The power of the Proclamation of the Word of GOD to dead things (People)
a Biblical Illustration:
Ezekiel 37:1–10 CSB
The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by his Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. He led me all around them. There were a great many of them on the surface of the valley, and they were very dry. Then he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I replied, “Lord God, only you know.” He said to me, “Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord God says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!” So I prophesied as he commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army.
