“sitting by the road side” Was Bartimaeus waiting for Jesus? or was this just his custom to sit and beg by the roadside?
“he began to cry out” Bartimaeus’ desperate condition of blindness caused him to throw off all caution, self-respect,and social acceptableness and to cry out to the only one who could free him of his loathsome condition
“many rebuked him” “BUT HE CRIED OUT ALL THE MORE” In the pursuit of relief and in the desperation of one’s condition, sufferers often forsake social norms and pursue their case insistently against the open rebuke of others and the possibility of rejection because their current condition is so desperate. What can we take away from this? What is our need? How desperate is my condition? Am i seeking healing from Jesus no matter the social loss?
Call him” “Take heart. Get up: he is calling you” What sweeter words could a blind man hear than to hear that his cries had been heard and that the Savior himself was calling him to come!!!!!!!
There is but only one response for the desperate sufferer: “And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus” His cries had been heard, the Healer himself is calling him! Therefore the desperate one casts off all restraints and runs to receive the desire of his heart. There is no questioning, can Jesus do this, there is only desperate running to receive relief from his horrible condition
“What do you want me to do for you?” How would you reply to this if Jesus asked this of you? What are you most desperately in need of relief from? MAKE A LIST->>>>>> IS IT.......? IS IT.....?
“Go your way: your faith has made you well” Jesus tells him to go his way but after receiving his desire the man follows Jesus on Jesus’s way.............>>>>>> often Jesus releases us from horrible things to show us his kind dealings with us and to encourage us to follow him more closely
