Oneness: Purity and Power
Purpose: That students may know and understand our union with Christ, and that holiness and power flows out of our oneness with Jesus

1 Corinthians 6:17 NASB95
17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

We are united with Christ
Christ is the answer to every single problem we may have
We have died to sin in Christ and been made righteous and Holy

Notes:
We have been united with Christ. It is from this union that everything we need flows.
Paul talks multiple times of being in Christ 1 Cor 1:30
1 Corinthians 1:30 NASB95
30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB95
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Eph 2:7 Col 1:27-28)
Ephesians 2:7 NASB95
7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Jesus speaks about abiding in Him - being connected to Him and through Him John 15:1-8
John 15:1–8 NASB95
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
Through His death and Resurrection we have been made alive with Him.
Holiness is being connected to God. Bill Johnson says “Holiness is not the absence of sin but the Presence of God.” We are made Holy because of our union with Jesus, not because of our own efforts. Holiness is being connected to God. In order to triumph over sin, we need to count ourselves dead to it Romans 6:11 and alive to God. Sin can have no power over a dead man!
Romans 6:11 NASB95
11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Through our union with Jesus, His glorious power flows into our lives. We can access supernatural joy, peace, patience and love. We can also heal the sick, bind up the broken hearted, open blind eyes and deaf ears and raise the dead through the Holy Spirit (later teaching). His supernatural life and joy flows into us John 7:37-38
John 7:37–38 NASB95
37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ”
We become His messengers and ministers on this earth 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 NASB95
18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
We can live as Jesus did on this earth through our union with Him
