King James Version (Psalm 23)
1  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3  He restoreth my soul:
King James Version (Chapter 18:1-6)
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the bwheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

I. Our God is a God of restoration!

You see this message was entitled “He Is Jehovah Rapha, The God Of Healing And Restoration” for a reason. Jehovah Rapha actually means “to restore” or “to heal.” And really doesnt healing and restoration come hand in hand.
The point is that even one of the names that God has upon Himself tells us that He is into this idea of restoration.
Not only does one of His names tell us this but so does many scriptures.
You see this truth found in both of our text.
Both of these passages speak of restoration.

II. Now in order for something to need to be restored it must mean that it is in a state of falling apart.

I mean there has to be something that is broken down. There has to be something that is in a mess. There has to be something that is falling to pieces before there can be a need of restoration. In both of our texts this is the situation.
In the first case it was actually the people of God that was being refered too.

1  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

3  He restoreth my soul:

In the second case you have this instance with the potter and the clay.

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the bwheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter:

What mistakes did you make tonight? What did you do that was wrong? What has marred you and filled up your wool to the point that you are hardly unable to stand?

III. Is there something that is falling apart tonight?

I mean what is falling to pieces tonight?
How is your relationship to God?
Is your life falling to pieces?
Are broken and busted up spiritually speaking?

IV. God isn’t there to destroy you. He’s there to help you!

1  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

3  He restoreth my soul:

God isnt there with and anvil.
Empty and Broken, I came Back to Him A Vessel Unworthy, so scarred from Sin. But He did not Despair... He Started over again And I Bless the Day, He didn't Throw the Clay Away. He is the Potter... I am the Clay Molded in God's Image, HE wants me to Stay. when I Stumble... and Fall... When My Vessel Breaks, He just Picks up those Pieces, He does not Throw the Clay Away... Over and Over, He Molds Me and Makes Me, Into His Likeness, He Fashions the Clay. A Vessel of Honor, I Am Today, All Because Jesus Didn't Throw The Clay Away. A Vessel of Honor, I Am Today, It's all Because Jesus Didn't Throw The Clay Away.
There is no mistake that is to great. There is no
There is nothing to big that God can’t fix. You just need to let Him has His way.
There instances in Scripture where this was the case.
i. Adam and Eve
ii. David
iii. Peter

V. God sees the beauty that is in the broken vessel!

God sees the beauty in the the cast sheep. He’s sees under the mud filled wool.
God sees the beauty that is in the vessel that is marred. We see the marred vessel and we throw it away. God sees the marred vessel and He starts it over.
Let me tell you something.
Your mess is not as great as Gods mercy.
Your mistake is not as great as Gods power to create.
