Lesson Text

1 Cor 3:10-17 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, (wood, hay, stubble;) 13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
2 Timothy 2:20-21 “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
When we look at the history in the bible Gods desire was to dwell with man.
We understand that Moses was the first to build a dwelling place for God. He built the tabernacle according to the blueprint God gave him.
Then we read where David desired to build God a house but God told him that his son Solomon would do it. So David gave Solomon the blueprints that God gave him to build the temple and Solomon built the temple of God
This temple is long gone. It was destroyed by the Babylonians.
A new temple was then built after the return from Exile under the Leadership of Nehemiah and Ezra, years later Herod added to it. it too was destroyed by the enemies of Israel the Romans.
Yet the Apostle Paul in our text talks about being a Master Builder.
1 Corinthians 3:10a “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder,
By laying the foundation of Jesus Christ, as (Saviour, Lord and King.)
In contrast:
When we look at the temple built in the old testament and those in the new
The old focused on the outward and internal structures
the new testament temples focus on the inward man of the heart.
As an apostolic people God has called us to build, establish, advance, the kingdom of God
We have apostolic leaders that have the grace to build the vision that God has given them according to the gift that works simultaneously with the grace.
The principle is simple but very profound,
Look at Ephesians 4:7 But unto everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ
Note*8(the grace comes with the gift)
This verse in context is talking about the five fold ministry but is not limited to them bc the bible says this grace is given to everyone of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Whenever God calls us to do something He will always supply the perfect measure of grace so you will be able to operate in your gifting.
and can I tell you that your gifting help to build and establish the work of God in the body of Christ.
But if you try to operate outside you gifting there is no grace for it.
Ephesians 3:7-11 “Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:”
The wise master builder operates with in the perimeters or scope of Gods grace on their life.
the first thing The Wise Master Builder does is dig up the soil in order to lay a good foundation.
Hosea 10:12 “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground: For it is time to seek the Lord, Till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”
Jeremiah 4:3 “For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.”
In other words break off all evil habits; clear your hearts of weeds, in order to be prepared for the seed of righteousness.
The Wise Master Builder teaches the congregation to be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind .
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
A wise Master Builder, preach messages that bring about the washing with water of the soul by the Word of God
they instruct the congregants to stay connected to the vine because there is no ability to bear fruit if you are disconnected from Jesus.
The wise master builder teach how the little foxes spoils the vine and damage the fruit thereon.
In order to break up the stony places in our heart we must look into the mirror of the word.
(Allow the word to hit us and not point to the next person.)
In other words the word must meet me at my address exposing any areas that need to be weeded out of my life.
We can reflect back to the message no Killer no King realizing we can’t reign with Christ if we are not will to kill the things that are trying to reign over us.
We must let go of the old and walk in the new, and realizing we are new creations in Christ Jesus, and as we walk by faith our salvation is secure.
To be a wise Master Builder we must build according to “God’s” plan.

Lay the Foundation

FOUNDATION
The solid base on which a secure structure may be built; used chiefly for the base of the temple. It is used figuratively of Jesus Christ and the apostles and prophets as the secure foundation on which the church is built. Obedience to the teaching of Jesus Christ is the true foundation of Christian living.
devotion, discipline, and development.
As the foundation is laid one build capacity in the believer through teaching.
knowledge of the word
develop a prayer life.
the ability to discern between good and evil right and wrong choosing what is right in the eyes of God.
understanding of the gifts and the ability to exercise these gifts
accountability to God and those that have rule over us.
operate in faith, live by faith to believe God’s word for face value
knowing how to wait on God and how to persevere (rejoice in adversity) (wait until my change come)

Build with the right materials Gold, Silver, and Precious Stone

Building for the Glory of God.
Ephesians 2:20 “And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;”
CONER STONE--A foundation stone at the base of a building.
What foundation did the Apostles lay : present truths in the word of God that established the believer in who he/she is in Christ and the Kingdom of God.
1 Cor 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”
Eph 2:21-22 “In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”
Eph 3:17-19 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
