The Holy Spirit Advent or His coming happened on the Day of Pentecost.
In the OT The Holy Spirit was in the world, but He is said to COME IN TO MAN. On the Day of Pentecost.
The same way The Holy Spirit came into man at Pentecost The Holy Spirit will leave the earth during the rapture of the church.
A. The Holy Spirit in the OT
Throughout the extended period of the OT ie. before Christ. The Spirit was present in the world in the same sense in which He is present everywhere, and He worked in and through the people of God according to His divine will.
38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
The Holy Spirit worked in Josephs life giving him favor with Pharaoh.
The Holy Spirit enable Joseph to be able to interpret Pharaohs dream.
Pharaoh told Joseph

39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.
God Spirit filled curtain members of the Tribe of Judah to build the Tabernacle. These men where in construction work.
Exodus 31:3 (NKJV)
3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
They had all kinds of skill and they could work well with precious metals and masonry (stone work) work.
Elihu said God made him with His Spirit.
4 The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
The Spirit of God is omnipresent.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.
We see in the OT the Spirit of God is seen as having a relationship with creation and the world.
-The Holy Spirit is seen as creating the world and humanity
-Caring, personal
-Giving men skills and abilities
-Having the same characteristic's as God. All knowing , everywhere present , All powerful etc. etc.
The Holy Spirit inspired the scriptures, and a ministry in the world in general restraining sin. Enabling believers for service and performing miracles.
Recently listened to an interview with the head of the terroist organization Hamas. He said that they love to be martyrs. The Israelis love to live life. Hamas we love to die.
So these verse speaks about the Holy Spirit being very active. But yet theres no record in the OT about The Holy Spirit dwelling in man.
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
The Holy Spirit with with man but not in man .
The Coming of The Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
The Father promised The Holy Spirit.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
So The Holy Spirit as always been here now its speaking about the new role of The Holy Spirit .
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
