introduction:

Every parent who has been travelling with their children get sick and tired of hear ing these words. “Are we there yet?” Te anxiousness of reaching the destination seems to be two much for kids to bear. Five miles down the road, 10 mminutes from the last time they asked, you hear “Are we there yet?”
well the Christian life is a journey. You and I have long since realized that we have not reached our destination. Heaven is our home, but in our text Paul is not pursuing heaven, for heaven has been guaranteed to those who have been transformed by the power of Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Paul’s pursuit is not:
to become the greatest apostle and write much of the NT
to analyzed and preached about
to be the object of study in many of the great universities and seminaries
it was not to attain to sainthood in the Catholic church
to have a city named after him in Minnesota
heaven, but Christlikeness.
it was Paul’s pursuit of Christlikeness that made him a great apostle—great pastor---missionary
