The Christian church is helpless and hopeless if it is stripped of the reality and historicity of the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.2
A. W. Tozer
1213The resurrection of our divine Lord from the dead is the cornerstone of Christian doctrine. Perhaps I might more accurately call it the keystone of the arch of Christianity, for if that fact could be disproved, the whole fabric of the gospel would fall to the ground.—26.193
Charles Spurgeon
Christianity does not hold the resurrection to be one among many tenets of belief. Without faith in the resurrection there would be no Christianity at all … Once disprove it, and you have disposed of Christianity.
Michael Green
Christ himself deliberately staked his whole claim to the credit of men upon his resurrection. When asked for a sign he pointed to this sign as his single and sufficient credential.
Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield
Of Americans who believe in a resurrection of the dead, two-thirds believe they will not have bodies after the Resurrection. But this is self-contradictory. A nonphysical resurrection is like a sunless sunrise. There’s no such thing. Resurrection by its very definition means that we will have bodies. If we didn’t have bodies, we wouldn’t be resurrected!1176
Randy Alcorn, We Shall See God
Randy Alcorn
The resurrection is a fact better attested than any event recorded in any history, whether ancient or modern.
Charles Spurgeon
The resurrection was not created by the church; rather, the church was created by the resurrection.
Darrell L. Bock
The slowness of the disciples to accept the corporeality of Jesus’ resurrection [24:41], just as their refusal to accept the story of the empty tomb, guarantees the asphaleia [certainty] which is the author’s purpose to establish.
Robert H. Stein
As Christ’s burial follows his death and confirms its reality, the account of his appearances to others after death confirms the reality of resurrection.
David E. Garland
Jesus’ supreme credential to authenticate his claim to deity was his resurrection from the dead. Five times in the course of his life he predicted he would die. He also predicted how he would die and that three days later he would rise from the dead and appear to his disciples.
Paul E. Little
