So Unshakable Faith Whats next.

The ending part of the passage that sets up the theme is 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. If we saw someone in a literal sense walking faithfully blindfolded it would make us question what was going on for sure right. But we follow Jesus without seeing him and we try to do that faithfully, but the thing that gets in our way a lot of times is ourselves right. A lot of us kind of have the mentality of OHHHHHH Ill just wait to have unshakable faith. I will wait till I get older for my fiath to be unshakable and thats wrong. One whose to say your gunna make it to 28, but also if your not gunna take your faith serious right now what makes you think your gunna change that when you get older. I see people my age who say thier believers that don’t live like it. I now you see people at school that talk one way and then say oh I believe God. So when are you going to take your faith serious.
Unshakable faith means to believe in God and Christ, we talked about that yesterday, but to have it also means to be in the word, and to put away your old self,
The Word of God is everything. If I told you there was a treasure, wouldn’t you want a map. There is a map and the map is the word of God, the Treasure is Knowing him more.
Reasons to know the word of God.
The first reason is the word of God is breathed out by God
It is the things God has said, It is God revealing himself to us
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
The Word of God is truth
There is definitely no author who knows God better than himself.

John 8:31-32

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
It is the truth, if you are willing to read it. and its the truth because it is made by God,
God's Word is totally sufficient for all of our needs.
Hebrews 4:12 says this For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piericng to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and marrow and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Thats word is.
Psalm 119:105 your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
the Word of God will accomplish what it promises.
Isaiah 55:11 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
This is why the word is important. It is critical to unshakable faith, you need it, every day like you need to something to drink, The bible never runs dry, it
John 4:10 Says this “Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.””
You need the word every day like you need food
Matthew 4:4 says this “But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ””
You get what im saying, The word of God is everything, Faith in God comes from knowing the Word of God just as knowing the word of God assures my faith in God. These things are hand in hand. My football coach used to say, running will make you stronger, and working out will make you a better runner, it goes hand in hand in with each other.
So not only do we need the word. but we need to constantly strive to defeat our sin
Guys I want you to look at your life, and I want you to look at how you live, and the good and the bad, I want you to think about what you are doing in the places your at
Have you ever been to a landfield
Luke 15:11–32 ESV
And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.” ’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. “Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’ ”
sin is our wasteland
Verse 13 A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land and wrecked himself. Sin does that in us.
Sin makes us think the bad things that we think are good, are what we need. And thats a complete lie.
sin causes us to think and act irrationally
Sin Caused adam and eve to hide themselves from the Lord.
Sin Caused Judas to betray Jesus because he loved money so much
The sin of Selfishness caused Jonah to flee from God
Where are the places you find yourself when you are caught up in your own sin
14 About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. 15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.
I don't want to eat pig slop.
We get kinda crazy its hard to think straight
Six ways we look at sin
We defend it - Oh the sin im doing helps me, i cheated on the test and made an A on it. It was ok for me to lie because it got me out of this. As a result youre afraid to have difficult, real conversations
We fake it - We strive to keep up the image, Im gunna wear my live worthy shirt to school, Im gunna post an bible verse on my instagram account, post my quite time. But i hate reflecting about my own actions
We hide it - Im just not gunna talk about it at all. Because Im afraid to show people the real me
We exaggerate it - we make the good parts about us really good, and the bad really bad usually to get attention. Look at me all the time.
We blame others for it - well these are my friends and they do this so i am too. Or my mom and dad said its fine for me to this. My mom and dad said its fine for me to drink, I have alot of friends who parents think its ok for them to drink before I turn 21 and Ill be the first one to say straight up thats wrong. And if its not wrong, come tell me how it glorifies the Lord
Downpay it - this person says well we all fall short so, the sin that i do, ill just keep on doing because its not that bad.
Getting rid of sin is recognizing God.
We get rid of sin by turning away from it. Repenting from it.
Im gunna stop sinning by just looking towards God rather than looking at myself
Acts 3: 19-20
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.
We get rid of sin by humbling ourselves before the Lord.
18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”
Sometimes we just gotta give up and say okay God, you can have me. Im sorry.
SLIDE
Believe in Christ - Christ is recognizing your sin before God
Confess your sins to God - 1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Actively Submit to Authroity - Romans 13: 1
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. Even authority thats wrong
Recieve Correction and Feedback from others: be held accountable As Iron Sharpens Iron, so does one man to another
Accept a lowly place - put others before you.
Psalms 51:10
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
God wants us to live for him
Are we going to choose to live in his presence or live without
20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.[b]’
22 “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23 And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, 24 for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.
Living a life for God is infinitely better than living a life for yourself. When I live a life for myself is when I feel the most loneliest that I can feel, when I feel the most empty, and sure theres laughter and theirs smiles in between, but at the end of the day when I rest my head on that pillow with day that was filled with sin without repentance, I feel purposeless.
Or this may be you also. You may find yourself as the brother, looking at whats going on. In the people around you and you yourself are not having a good time at the party. You ever seen a sour face at a party?
No fun.
Why is God doing for them and not doing anything for me? Ive been at church, I have served I have done all these things.
Lets look
30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.
Love and acceptance of God is not based off what we can do. God loves us and love that he has
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2 8-9
Repentence is not a one time thing that leaves us to salvation, but should be something we can look at to center ourselves with Christ, because he has forgiven us.
Unshakable faith is living by the word, but it is getting rid of your sin, giving up your sin, and returning to the Christ. Gosh have I sinned so much in my life, and I will sin agian, but that doesnt meant that leave it right there.
Unshakable faith is renewing myself submitting myself every day to God
