2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Often times the scripture is used in a context that is out of context!
Yes, we walk by faith because we trust in the Lord with all of our heart!
Yes, we walk by faith because Christ is our firm foundation!
But this text is not about anything materialistic!
This text is nothing about:
Walking into the bank to get a home loan
Walking on a car lot to get a new car
Walking into a job interview to get a job
It’s not even about walking into the Dr. Office for a check-up
This text was honestly what sis Diana always had in view.
2 Corinthians 5:1 ESV
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 Corinthians 5:2 ESV
For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,
Tent = Body
“We groan”
Groan: to groan v. — to vocally indicate pain, discomfort, or displeasure; almost always inarticulate.
This body will groan in pain, discomfort, and displeasure.
We longing are longing to put on our heavenly dwelling = Which is the building from God
A House not made with hands
This building is eternal!
2 Corinthians 5:3–4 ESV
if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
Paul is dealing with the desire to be further clothed - Meaning with our eternal heavenly Body
The life sis Diana lived has swallowed up her mortal body!
But God!
2 Corinthians 5:5 ESV
He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
God has prepared for us a heavenly body
But He has given us the Sprit as a guarantee to receive what He has prepared!
2 Corinthians 5:6 ESV
So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,
Be of Good courage
2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Faith is dealing with how I view my outfit!
My outfit is the tent
My outfit is this body called flesh
If I walk by sight! I am going to be discouraged
Because everyday my body is groaning
aches and pains
Sickness / Disease
But my faith tells me! One Day....
I’m going to change clothes....
One day I’m going to take off the mortal body
and put on immortality
I’m going to change outfits
No more sickness
No more pain
No more cancer
No more diabetes
No More! No More! No More!
The moment Sis Diana died is the moment she was able to open her eyes!
2 Corinthians 5:8–9 ESV
Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.
