Responding to what you hear & confirming the word

Practical Principles Of the Bible as God speaking to us:

1. If you think you have heard God speak to you, check it out against the Bible

2 Corinthians 13:1 NKJV
1 This will be the third time I am coming to you. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”
Make sure you see the principle clearly in at least 2-3 passages of scripture without stretching it to fit.
Don’t add or take away from scripture to make it fit what you want it to say (Revelations 22:18-19)
If it’s not scriptural, throw it out!
- you probably just had too much pizza.
1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
2 Corinthians 1:19–20 NKJV
19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
James 3:11 NKJV
11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
This is precisely why saying, “God said…” is not the Christian “Trump Card”
If it’s not Biblical, God didn’t say it!

2. The voice of God, the Spirit of God, and the Word of God NEVER disagree

1 John 5:7 NKJV
7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
Hebrews 10:7 NKJV
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”
God never disagrees with or contradicts the Bible.
Malachi 3:6a (NKJV)
6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change;

3. Prophetic words & personal “revelations” are not more important/valid than the Bible.

Again, God the Father & the Holy Spirit will NEVER contradict the Bible
2 Peter 1:20 NKJV
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
There is no such thing as true prophecy that is non-scriptural.
Non-Biblical Doctrines are demonic
1 Timothy 4:1 NKJV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

There were even people called/known prophets who claimed that God had said something He did not say - this is NOT NEW

BTW, this is how we judge prophecy - if it doesn’t line up with at least 2-3 passages of scripture in good context, reject it.
Not understanding this can end up in you allowing yourself to be prophesied right out of the will of God.
God’s will is His Word.

4. When you see something in the Bible, it IS God speaking to you. Settle it in your heart.

Psalm 119:89 NKJV
89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.
Let God’s word settle the issue in your life - even if you don’t like what it says.
Obey the Word of the Lord in the right way and in the right timing.
3 ways to be wrong & 1 way to be right:
Right thing - wrong time = Wrong
Wrong thing - right time = Wrong
Wrong thing - wrong time = Really Wrong
Right Thing - Right Time = Right
Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24) vs. Jesus (John 5:19)
