Have you ever consider God Grace? How he blesses you and love you not because you deserve it but because he just wants to be kind to you. By its very definition Grace is a demonstration of kindness that is unearned undeserved and unrepairable.
One of the sweetest reasons for his grace is his fondest of us. A great writer wrote:
If God had a refrigerator your picture would be on it. If he had a wallet your photo would be in it.
Because of his love for us, he sends us a sunrise every morning. and flowers Every Spring Whenever you want to talk to him he'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, but he has chosen to make this Earth his home in the earth made new.
God has promise to never leave you or forsake you. He is promise keeping God who will not fail to keep his promise.
Its in 2 Samuel chapter 9 we see grace and kindness demonstrated from David. Yes the one who asked God Who Am I that you show this kindness to me and my family.
This is something to remember when God has been kind to you there should be opportunities in your life you extend kindness to others. Also we should be incline to keep our word as David shows here.
It was in 1 Samuel 20 we can recall the covenant Johnathan and David made. Johnathan knew David would be the next king but more so David and Johnathan had a special bond. 14 If I am still alive, show me the steadfast love of the LORD, that I may not die; 15 and do not cut off your steadfast love from my house forever, when the LORD cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.” 16 And Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “May the LORD take vengeance on David’s enemies.” 17 And Jonathan made David swear again by his love for him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul. (1 Sa 20:14–17).
SO in 2 Samuel we see things unfold in a true demonstration of Grace! 9 And David said, “Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” (2 Sa 9:1).
First point Gods Grace will come because of someone’s sake.
May times we are getting blessed because of who our parents are. Thats Betty or Charles son. I have been shone kindness because of something my mother or father has done. The good thing about grace its comes at unexpected times and many time you ask why.
Johnathan son Mephibosheth
Lame at 5 years old. Dropped by his nurse. Many times we are products of circumstance that were not our doing. Many of us have PTSD from bad parenting, bad relationships, bad situations.
Gods Grace wi9ll rescue you from a bad space
LOdebar= nothing
God can rescue you from a space of nothing
We have all been Lodebar at times of our life. A place of nothing. A place of unproductivity. A place of just existing. We have to allow God to move us out of Lodebar so we can flourish.
Gods Grace will put you at the kings table.
So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table, like one of the king’s sons. 12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who lived in Ziba’s house became Mephibosheth’s servants. 13 So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate always at the king’s table. Now he was lame in both his feet. (2 Sa 9:11–13).
Even when Mephibosheth rebelled against David during Absalom rebellion David spared his life because of the oath he made with Johnathan.
THe shows him grace when he did not deserve him That sounds like mercy suited his case,.
Not everyone will be happy! Some will plot against you.
Later writings show that ZIba Mephibosheth servant left him when the King beckon them to come. Ziba arrived in 2 Sam 16 with donkeys and provision but no Mephibosheth. He said Mephibosheth said behold Today the house of Israel will give back the kingdom of my father. David believed Ziba and granted him all that belong to Mephibosheth.
But in Chapter 19 we see Mephibosheth greet David obviously in a period of morning and said Ziba deceived him and left him. He had not shaven or taken care of his feet.
If David did not have mercy on him he could have been killed.
David had decided to split the land between Ziba and Mephibosheth. But Mephibosheth said let him have it all. All that matters is the king is home safely.
