These instructions are 2 fold: for the people offering and for the priests receiving and offering them to God

This is all brand new (in a sense). But god is reshaping their culture

So you can’t bring your own ways of worship into how you worship YAHWEH.

Pagan worship is super manipulative. You have to twist the gods arm to get them to do something nice

So now — worship is no longer on your terms. You don’t get to twist Gods arm and make it how you like it. It’s in His terms.

Verse 11 - “north side” why is he so specific? I think the same reason my wife is so specific. She’s a person with preferences.

It’s not our job to UNDERSTAND his preferences but to obey them

Sometimes we force too much weight onto things. If god wants the couch over there — then that’s what he wants.

And we can have our opinions about that but we can’t take it to the bank. Open handed.

God will use what is familiar

Why does God want so many animals sacrificed? In this time and this agricultural society what was valuable? Animals!

God is making it costly. It’s important.

A lamb without blemish?? That’s your best one! It shows God you’re in this thing.

That’s why in our culture I don’t have a problem talking about money in church.

“Accepted” - god is deciding the merit of the sacrifice

Faithfulness of God. He’s doing all he can to initiate a relationship with his people

Let’s think of the progression — knowing God is the creator, knowing he’s all powerful, knowing he is the reason we have been delivered — now this is how you worship this God. You want to be in right relationship with Him, this is what you have to do

How to preach?

Our obedience to gods faithfulness. You don’t get to cut corners. Sweet aroma is our obedience.

Relationship — like my wife. Or like tell stores of terrible gifts I’ve gotten. There are 2 kinds of terrible gifts: regifts or a gift that the giver likes (ie pastor Scott). I don’t like what you like.
