Introduction:
Sometimes, we encounter Grace in the form of a person. A good friend of mine from Bible College, Richard, did just that. After graduation, Richard married a wonderful woman by the name of Grace.
In the Bible, we encounter Grace in the first chapter of the Book of 1 Samuel 1:2. The wife of Elkanah, she was childless because Scripture tells us that God “had closed up her womb” (1 Samuel 1:6).
Hannah’s name comes from the Hebrew word, “cha-nan’” meaning “to implore” or “to pity.” The verb ḥānan depicts a heartfelt response by someone who has something to give to one who has a need.
