It’s great to be studying God’s precious message again you today, as we continue our series on “Impact 3:16.” We finished looking at the gospel accounts in our last study and today find ourselves looking at Acts 3:16 and how “Faith Makes Us Strong.” Our text today is based in and event that took place earlier in the chapter when a man who had not been able to walk since birth was healed by Peter. That man naturally was very excited, praising God, and clinging to the apostles Peter & John. The people in the temple were amazed at what they just witnessed having seen this man for years lame. Peter used this opportunity to teach them about Jesus. Let’s read now Acts 3:12-16.
Acts 3:12–16 (NKJV)
12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Now there is no doubt that when Peter mentions this man being made strong by his faith in Jesus it is talking the miracle that made him whole physically.
But today, considering miracles have ceased, I want us to consider the spiritual reality of that statement for you and I. When we put our faith in Jesus we will be made stronger in this life and certainly in the next. When we put our full and complete trust in our Lord and Savior we are made strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
How are we strong in the Lord and in his power through our faith?
Our faith in Jesus makes us fierce soldiers in God’s army in this spiritual war we are in.
3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Then, when we realize how strong the Lord has made us in this fight as his soldier we go forth boldly and unashamedly preaching the word of God.
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Faith i.e., a complete and utter trust in our Lord doesn’t make us weak it makes us strong.
