Actions Present in Believers' Lives

What actions does Paul urge to be present in the life of the believer?

Intro.: [AGS]: Read John 13:34-35 “34 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”” 1 Cor. 13:1-13; Highlight the following:

[1] Disciples are identified by love

[2] Mature believers embody love in all they do

[TS]: Paul wrote in this passage to highlight that inasmuch as believers are considerate of others, they live in a manner that promotes spiritual and kingdom growth. [RS]: You and I relate to and interact with different people, every day. Many of the people we interact with are believers. Do we live in a way that promotes their growth or hinders their growth? Believers ought to live in a way that the actions of their lives cultivates growth both in other believers and in the Kingdom of God.

TS: Let us examine a few actions together, now:

Believers resolve to look out for one another. [v. 13]

Believers commit to things of the Kingdom of God. [vv. 14-18]

Ref. 1 Cor. 9:19-23 “19 Although I am free from all and not anyone’s slave, I have made myself a slave to everyone, in order to win more people. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win Jews; to those under the law, like one under the law—though I myself am not under the law—to win those under the law. 21 To those who are without the law, like one without the law—though I am not without God’s law but under the law of Christ—to win those without the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some. 23 Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.”

Believers live faithfully to build up the Kingdom of God. [vv. 19-23]
