RUACH ELOHIM IS MOVING!
Genesis 1:1–2 NASB95
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
In our message last week, we learned about The Struggle Between Two Nations: Then and Now!
Today, I want to offer some comfort from The Scripture and The Spirit of God!
I. The REVELATION we need to EXPLORE!
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth!
Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep!
Genesis 1:2 and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters!
Deuteronomy 32:10–11 NASB95
“He found him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. “Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions.
II. The DEFINITION we need to EXPLAIN!
Genesis 1:2 And the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters!
What is the translation of the phrase “the Spirit of God? The RUACH of ELOHIM!
What does the word “moving” mean? It can mean “hovering, vibrating, protecting, or moving.”
III. The MANIFESTATIONS we need to EXPERIENCE!
When RUACH ELOHIM is moving, we can experience:
A. God REMOVING the CHAOS from us!
Genesis 1:2 NASB95
The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
B. God SHOWING the WAY to us!
Exodus 13:21 NASB95
The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
Exodus 13:22 NASB95
He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
C. God is PERFORMING a MIRACLE in you!
Luke 1:35 NASB95
The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
D. God is FULFILLING a PROMISE He made to you!
Genesis 2:18 NASB95
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2:21 NASB95
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
IV. The APPLICATION we need to EXPECT!
Genesis 12:1 NASB95
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you;
Genesis 12:2 NASB95
And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;
Genesis 12:3 NASB95
And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
God made this Covenant with Abraham and God affirmed the Covenant with Isaac:
Genesis 26:3 NASB95
“Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.
God made this covenant with Abraham, Isaac and He affirmed the Covenant with Jacob:
Genesis 28:13 NASB95
And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants.
Genesis 28:14 NASB95
“Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 28:15 NASB95
“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
The Covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob remains true to this day.
Jesus came to the Jews first but they rejected Him:
John 12:37 NASB95
But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.
This did not catch God by surprise, in fact, Isaiah prophesied it would happen:
John 12:38 NASB95
This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
John 12:39 NASB95
For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,
John 12:40 NASB95
He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.”
The apostle Paul addresses the unbelief of the Jews and God’s commitment to fulfill His promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob:
Romans 11:7 NASB95
What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened;
Romans 11:8 NASB95
just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not, Down to this very day.”
God chose Abraham to be the father of many nations, not just the Jewish nation:
Romans 11:11 NASB95
I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.
God has not cast off the Jewish people, and His Covenant with Abraham is still in force today:
Romans 11:15 NASB95
For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
When will Israel’s blindness be removed from their spiritual eyes?
Romans 11:25 NASB95
For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in;
In my humble opinion, the fullness of the Gentiles must be close at hand!
When this occurs, God’s judgment will come upon the unbelieving Gentiles and His grace will result in the salvation of the Jews!
Romans 11:26–27 NASB95
and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”
Israel is despised by the unbelieving Gentile nations, and from the standpoint of the gospel, they are enemies of but from the standpoint of God’s Sovereign choice, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers!
Romans 11:28–29 NASB95
From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
So, what is the application we need to expect with respect to the events in the world right now?
RUACH ELOHIM is MOVING above His People!
He is REMOVING the CHAOS!
He is SHOWING the WAY!
He is PERFORMING the MIRACLES!
He is FULFILLING His PROMISE!
