Psalms 42 and 43 could be described as Psalms of the Struggler. They describe the experience of someone who longs for God on the one hand, but who is honest enough to admit that they don’t feel God's presence. Someone who isn’t experiencing God’s love, although they long to. And, someone who doesn’t want things to stay this way. They desire things to change. But how? They’re not quite sure. And maybe that’s you as well. Or it will be you, at some point in the future. God gave us these Psalms to help us when we experience God at a distance. They help us understand some of the reasons why we might sometimes experience God distantly. But more than that, they help give us hope for the future and show us how we can, once again, draw near to a seemingly distant God. Preacher: Andrew Nugteren
