RESPECTED MAN

2 Kings 5:1 (NASB95)1 Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man with his master, and highly respected, because by him the Lord had given victory to Aram. The man was also a valiant warrior, but he was a leper.

HIS QUALITIES

Great Leader
Great Man
Greatly Respected
Greatly Accomplished

STORY OF HAMAAN’S JOURNEY

EXPACTANT MAN

2 Kings 5:9–10 (NASB95)9 So Naaman came with his horses and his chariots and stood at the doorway of the house of Elisha. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will be restored to you and you will be clean.”

HE WENT WITH ALL HIS POWER, POMP AND PRESTIGE

The problem was His expectations didnt match his reality

expectation of respect- Greet me
expectation of Ritual- Call on His God and wave his hand
expectation of results- “Cure the Leper”

•ANGRY MAN

2 Kings 5:11 (NASB95)11 But Naaman was furious and went away and said, “Behold, I thought, ‘He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper.’

PRIDEFUL MAN

2 Kings 5:12 (NASB95)•12 “Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.

•PRIDES DELUSION

•PRIDE MAKES US COMPARE THE RIVERS OF OUR LIFE. Better than all the rivers pf isreal.
•PRIDE BLINDS US TO CLEAR COMMANDS OF HEALING RIVERS. He forgot whay he was even there.
•PRIDE LEADS US TO THE MORE CONVINIENT & COMFORTABLE RIVERS.
Naaman almost traded comfort for cleansing, Convinient for cured
•PRIDE OVER OUR RIVERS BUILDS IN US AN ANGRY ATTITUDE AND SPIRIT.
We dont like people questioning our “Rivers”

•A COUNSELED MAN

2 Kings 5:13 (NASB95)13 Then his servants came near and spoke to him and said, “My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?”

Finaly some one with wisdome spoke up.

•A CLEANED MAN

2 Kings 5:14 (NASB95) 14 So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

•A CHANGED MAN

2 Kings 5:15 (NASB95) 15 When he returned to the man of God with all his company, and came and stood before him, he said, “Behold now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; so please take a present from your servant now.”
