Heb 2:3

Eph 3:18

Psalm 78:21-22

The New King James Version (Psalm 78)
21 Therefore the LORD heard this and was furious;
So a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also came up against Israel,
22 Because they did not believe in God,
And did not trust in His salvation.
Proclamation: For by one sacrifice, He has perfected forever, those who are being sanctified.
Remedy for sin: sacrifice.
“It is Finished” - tetelestai - perfect tense (verb) - means to do something perfectly. It is perfectly perfect, it is completely complete.
Our appropriating the benefits of the sacrifice is progressive.
I believe there is no one here that has appropriated all the benefits available through the sacrifice of Jesus…including me.
New Birth and Salvation
John 1:11–13 (LEB)
He came to his own things, and his own people did not receive him. But as many as received him—to those who believe in his name—he gave to them authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a husband, but of God.
New Birth = receive Jesus by faith, believing in Him. One time experience.
Salvation = ongoing process. We receive authority to become children of God.
Yes you are born again (new birth), but as salvation…how far have you come?
Three tenses of Salvation Perfect, simple past, continuing present.
Perfect -
Ephesians 2:8 (LEB)
For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;
Simple past -
Titus 3:5 (LEB)
he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
Continuing present -
1 Corinthians 1:18 (LEB)
For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
