Honor your parents

We are already on the 5th Commandment of the Ten Commandments.
Who remembers what the first four are. How about you give me one each. What does it mean?
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make any idols.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
You shall keep the Sabbath day holy.
The verse for our commandment is:
Exodus 20:12 NIV
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
What do you think that it means to honor your parents?
What are some ways that you honor your parents.
Ephesians 6:1–4 NIV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
God gave you to your parents so that they can train you. This includes picking up after yourself, it includes cleaning your room and help around the house.
It includes our attitudes. When we are young, we are taught to say “Thank you.” “Please may I...”. “You’re welcome.”
Manners are good things to learn.
We are taught what are good tv show to watch and what we shouldn’t watch. What books are good to read.
We can learn a lot at school, but God gave parents to train us up in God’s ways.
There is only one time that I would say that God would say that it’s right to disobey your parents, and that is if they want you to go directly against God.
Now we are going to watch a short video, and we’ll do our work sheet.
