Pray
Verse 9
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Love must be sincere.
Some translation say, let love be without hypocrisy.
The KJV says let love be without dissimulation.
The word dissimulation means: to hide under a false appearance.
The point to tis first statement is to let love be pure.
Avoid acting in ways to appear loving, but are guided by personal motives.
Don’t act in ways to gain the attention of another for the benefit of the self.
Treat brothers and sisters in love as God loved you.
With integrity.
With honor.
Have sincere love for one another.
In these verses Paul is directly addressing the church.
He is talking about how we should treat one another as are an extended family.
If the Bible addresses this issue it must be a problem.
If it were not a problem, then the Bible would not need to address it.
Our first response toward one another must be our of sincere, pure love.
We are to first respect one another with integrity.
The reason I wanted to look at these verses as we discuss the Advent of Honor is the fact that we all need this reminder.
Jesus came to us so that He could show us how to treat each other with honor.
With respect.
With dignity.
With sincere love.
This must be our initial response to one another.
As we walk together to be this church, we must choose to act in love.
The thought to take advantage, harm or get what is a personal desire accomplished should never be a motivation for our walk together.
The verse goes on to say hate what is evil.
Hate evil.
Hate evil.
Hate what is does to people.
Hate sin.
Hate the perversion that sin often causes us to act in.
Hate the division that sin can create.
Hate is an incedably strong word.
Not sue if there is a stronger way to describe how we are to view sin and temptation.
Maybe the word abomination is slightly stronger.
Sin is an abomination.
Hate it.
how are we to treat one anothetr our firtst response must be to honor
