Text: Exodus 7:10
Introduction: Compromise remains a favorite weapon of Satan, if the Devil cannot persuade us to live in open rebellion against God, His goals are often achieved by compromise. Let us notice Pharaoh’s suggested compromises and how Moses responded.
Thesis: Perhaps Exodus can teach us some things regarding the strategies Satan uses today on how we should respond.
I. “Go, sacrifice to your God within the land” Exodus 8:25-27
Pharaoh is trying to get the Israelites to stay in the land
He is doing all this because he wants to keep them as slaves
II. “Go, but not very far away” Exodus 8:28
He still pushes this by compromising once more
He tells them to not go far away so he can still keep them close
III. “Go, but leave your little ones behind” Exodus 10:8-11
Pharaoh says, “Who are the ones that are going” even though all of them are God’s people.
We should always take our kids with us to worship
Sometimes we can leave our little ones behind by not teaching them.
IV. “Go, but leave your flocks and your herds” Exodus 10:25-26
This was people’s food and possessions back then, so it was not hard to just leave
Moses chooses to listen to God all throughout this whole time without question
They do not mind to go on a journey to listen to God, which is repeated
Conclusion- Regarding our commitment to the Lord let us never compromise on matters of doctrine or morals.
