Alter of Incense

To the right is the Table of Shewbread and to the left was the Candlesticks but beyond those in the center of the room and just before the vail was the Altar of Incense.
This Altar created a connection with the the Altar of Sacrifice, in that, a hot coal had to be lifted from the Altar of Sacrifice and carried through the Tabernacle to the Altar of Incense.
The incense would then be poured over the hot coal creating a sweet smell.
The Priest would allow the smoke and smell from the incense to cover the smell and smoke of the sin sacrifice.
This altar gives us a place to create a sweet praise and prayer that will reach heaven.
Psalm 141:2 NKJV
2 Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
This part of the prayer is where you begin to push past yourself and press into His presence...
The power of this prayer should be overpower everything else in your life.
Let every scent of the flesh be covered.
Let every smell of sin be lost.
Let every hint of worldly mindedness be outdone by the intensity of your cry.
Why is this important?
You are getting ready to enter the Holy of Holies...
You are preparing yourself to stand in a place where you can do nothing but God’s Spirit does everything.
Up to this point you and I have prayed ourselves out... we have thanked, praised, repented, meditated, sought sustenance and revelation and finally prayed ourselves into a position ready to yield our prayer over to Him.
This previous journey would be made daily in the morning and in the evening - known as the morning and evening sacrifices.
Once a year the High Priest would prepare to enter the Holy Of Holies on the Day of Atonement.
I have not found in Scripture any reference to a split or division of the curtain.
From my understanding it appears to be one piece of material.
Yet somehow, the priest would enter the Holy of Holies.
I believe this is was a supernatural transposing -
a crossing through the veil and into this sacred place.
