Part 2: Man Healed & Paul and Barnabas called gods (v.8-18)

Setting: Lystra (v.8)

Lystra was a rural town in the mountains of that region
Paul and Barnabas were not just going to the large cities but also to the smaller towns as well - they cared about every soul in ever town and city.
Acts 14:8–10 ESV
8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, 10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking.

Lame man healed

This story reflects what happened in Acts 3 with Peter.
This was another example of the Apostles coming and proclaiming their messages and then a healing occurring
“he had faith to be made well”
This is not clear wether he had faith in the gospel, Christ, or Paul but what mattered is that he trusted in God and had faith.
The key here is that this follows the pattern we saw earlier
Paul comes to preach
The Lord grants a miracle
(The primary purpose was not for them to come and heal but rather to come and preach and then the Lord blessed them with a miracle. This miracle proved the power that we behind the message)
