Greeting

Welcome, Hybrid Church and if your new thank for joining us for our sunday service. Its a honour to share Gods Word, i just ask we open our hearts, minds and spirit To Whatever God wants to say to us. Lets Prayer Holy Spirit Come Open our eyes to see what you see and to know what you know.

Why

We are currently in a series, teaching on the Love of God, the reason behind this Message is that i belive when you unpack the layers of christianity and get to the root what you find is love, How God loves us, how we ought to love one another. If we are to know understand love we must undersatnd the source of Love, then we can bare the fruits of love.

Transition

Today we will unpack Jesus farewell Prayer to the disciples, its important to may attention to peoples last wishes becuase it reveals that he deem importnat and i want us ti listen closely to what jesus deemed important. Its a long portion of scripture but we will unpack it passage by passage.

Conetext

Jesus just had the last supper and he is giving his disciples his final instructions before his cruxifaction. He transition from teaching his disciples to praying to the father and lsiten to what is in his heart.

John 17:1-5

John 17:1–5 NIV

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

Jesus was sent on a mission to make The one true God known

jesus says Glorfy your son, what his refering to is how Jesus had Glory with God the Father before the creation of the world but he emptied himself of such glory and became like a man becuase he was sent by his father with a mission and his mission is a simply mission to make the one true God Known, and jesus christ who is the perfect reflect of the invisible God. He now going to be taken up after his dealth and resurrection to the Glory he once had with His Father.

What amazes me is mission primarly mission wasnt to reveal the law like mose did, but he came to reveal a person of God. This is what leads to eternal life what is eternal life a the life of the future now. God design for life breaking in history and i want pause and how us make a connection that is being made here that the life to come can be experienced when we come to know Gods and his son Jesus christ.

Story

3 Yaers old i felt God explicitly tell me to Go to Bethel and it was a 3 years journey saving and working and i was able to in 2020, I only attended for 3 month but hard work for 3 years was worth the information i Recieved in 3 Month. I Had questions and i dont know if i agree with everything but what they taught me was Gold. They made us read this book called embraced by the father and the whole permise of the book is Jesus is the reveal of Who God is and when you see jesus you behold the Face of God. That Transformed by faith In Gods charcter and it brought more intimacy in my relationship.

Transition

Jesus mission all along was to reveal the true person of God to the world it goes beyond rules an regulations but the heart of God revaled Through Jesus Christ.

John 17:6–18 NIV

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

Jesus Prayers for us to engage the world but not become the World.

Jesus prays for his disciples protection and there joy but i want us to pay attention to verse 15, He says that He doesnt desire we leave the world but were protected in the wolrd and more then that were sent to the world. The world somethings refers to the creation or the people or worldview, How people think and behave accord to there worldview and Jesus prays we are protected from the father of lies but we are strengthend by the word of truth. Jesus wants his disciples not to be isolations but people who engage society and culture but well we reamin in the truth.

Story

In high school, i was trying to witness about my faith constantly as a new christion abut the school i was in was 70 percent muslim and they would ask though question and critize my faith and i honest was disstablized by them. I remeber on time it God so made i was in my bsement praying to God and i said i feel like im losing my faith and i opened my bible hope for something and it landed on hebrews 11:1 Faith is what you hope for and certain what is unseen. Looking back i wasnt balane i didnt know how to remain in the truth and study relvation while engaging culture becuase we fight lies with truth.

Transition

Jesus doesnt just pray for his disciples but he also prays for us.

Jesus Comission

Teaching John 17:20-25

John 17:20–25 NIV

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.

Jesus wants us to know him, becuase his love is hidden in his charcater.

There is a overall theme in jesus farewell he desires for us to know God, be united and the world to know him. The question remains why, why does God want to reveal who he is through Jesus christ and the answer is revealed in verse 23, So that they may know that jesus is sent by God and God Loves them as he has loved Jesus. The reason Jesus was sent was becasue he love you so much, God wants us to know him becuase his love is hidden in his charcater.

I want us to pray a simply prayer for 5 Minutes then we will end service.

We just heard Jesus prayer for his disciples and his church, now let the church pray back to God reveal your Charcter & love , help us be a instrument for unity in the Church and let the world know you through the Church.
