This game has rules!
Rules help to maintain order and discipline
The rules that guide the game of football are akin to the teachings of the Bible that guide our life.
Today I am here as an agent for NFL (National Faithful League)
Breaking Rules & Sin:
Just as penalties are given in the NFL for breaking rules, sin represents a transgression of God's laws in the Christian life.
Both come with consequences and a need for rectification.
Indication of a Rule Violation
When a game official (e.g., referee, line judge, back judge, etc.) observes a violation of the game rules during play, they throw the yellow flag onto the field to signal that a penalty has occurred. This act stops the progression of the game and draws attention to the infraction.
Do you know that we have an official with us!
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
The Holy Spirit throws the yellow flag in our life to signal a penalty has occurred.
The purpose is to stop the progression of the game and draw attention to our infraction.
Repentance & Correcting Mistakes:
When a player or team gets penalized, they have a chance to learn from that mistake and avoid it in the future.
In the Christian walk, repentance offers believers an opportunity to turn away from sin and seek God's forgiveness.
One of the most common penalties in football is “Holding”
Holding typically refers to an offensive player, most often an offensive lineman, illegally restraining a defensive player.
Defensive holding, this occurs when a defensive player illegally restricts the movement of an offensive player.

#1 Holding.........
Penalty.......
You’re holding.....
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
I’m holding on to un-forgiveness...
I’m holding on to bitterness...
I’m holding on to anger....
Let it go....
We must forgive
We must be kind
We must be tenderhearted
“Bearing with one another”
to bear (endure) v. — to endure something unpleasant or difficult whether on one’s own behalf or on behalf of someone else.
It’s ok to have a complaint but forgive / reconcile
Remember!!!!
so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

#2 Offsides.........
Penalty.......
Offsides: A player is offsides if any part of their body is across the line of scrimmage (the imaginary line that separates the offense and defense) or the neutral zone (the space between the offensive and defensive lines) when the ball is snapped.
You’re offsides! Stay on your side!
Mind your own business
Whoever meddles in a quarrel not his own
is like one who takes a passing dog by the ears.
and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.
When we stay offsides we play the game properly!

#2 Unsportsmanlike conduct.........
Penalty.......
Unsportsmanlike conduct in the NFL refers to a variety of behaviors that are deemed inappropriate or unsporting within the context of a game. Unsportsmanlike conduct generally encompasses actions that show disrespect for the game, the officials, or other players.
Taunting:
Excessive Celebrations:
Abuse of Officials:
Physical Altercations:
Removing Helmet:
Actions Deemed Detrimental: This is a broad category that can encompass a variety of behaviors, but essentially any action that officials deem seriously detrimental to the spirit of the game can be flagged as unsportsmanlike conduct.
Illegal Substitutions or Formations to Deceive: Trying to trick the opposing team with deceptive substitutions or formations can be flagged.
Certain Verbal Abuses:
Throwing Punches or Kicks:
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
When your flesh is at work! It will cause you to be penalized and flagged with Unsportsmanlike Conduct!
But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
It is the Spirit that officiates my life but it is also the Spirit that produces of product (characteristics of God) in my life!
The rules teach me!
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Grieve: to sadden v. — to cause to feel sorrow or unhappiness.
If I’m not building you up… Then I need to shut up!
Don’t grieve the REF
