SLIDE 3
HOW TO LIVE IN THE LIGHT
(key points)
*Know The Lord
*Be and Over-comer
*Endure To The End
Today we will see what God’s word tells us about enduring to the end
A huge of support behind us to be able to endure to the end is because everything about the Lord our God endures forever!
SLIDE 4
Psalm 111:1–3 (NASB95)
1 Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
In the company of the upright and in the assembly.
2 Great are the works of the Lord;
They are studied by all who delight in them.
3 Splendid and majestic is His work,
And His righteousness endures forever.
The word endure in the Greek has a pretty powerful meaning
SLIDE 5
Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon 5278 ἀπομένω, ὑπομένω

5278 ἀπομένω, ὑπομένω [hupomeno /hoop·om·en·o/] v. From 5259 and 3306; TDNT 4:581; TDNTA 581; GK 670 and 5702; 17 occurrences; AV translates as “endure” 11 times, “take patiently” twice, “tarry behind” once, “abide” once, “patient” once, and “suffer” once. 1 to remain. 1A to tarry behind. 2 to remain i.e. abide, not recede or flee. 2A to preserve: under misfortunes and trials to hold fast to one’s faith in Christ. 2B to endure, bear bravely and calmly: ill treatments.

This is when endure is used in the gospels and epistles
Our keypoints for enduring to the end
SLIDE 6
“ENDURING TO THE END”
( key points)
1)Continue Sanctification (a process)
2)Grow in Faith
3)Live in the Gospel (salvation)
Our first point from God’s word today
SLIDE 7
“ENDURING TO THE END”
1)Continue Sanctification (a process)
This another wonderful gift and blessing through Jesus
How cool it is that the word sanctification is only found in the epistles .......after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension ......further validating that sanctification is truly provided to the believer from the finished work of Christ
SLIDE 8 “SANCTIFICATION / POTTERS HANDS”
Sanctification refers broadly to the concept of being set apart as holy or sacred
As God created all things in Genesis then He set apart the sabbath as Holy and then rest......thus the process in our lives of day to day God working in us, creating in us, new things and then a set apart and ultimately our eternal rest with Him
In the Old Testament the process would be consecration as God set his people apart from the other nations
We pick that up in Leviticus
SLIDE 9
Leviticus 11:44–45 (NASB95)
44 ‘For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the earth.
45 ‘For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be holy, for I am holy.’ ”
SLIDE 10 “SANCTIFICATION / POTTERS HANDS”
The New Testament similarly reflects the idea that followers of Christ have been sanctified or set apart as a result of Christ’s holiness
We really don’t teach or talk about sanctification near enough......its a tremendous benefit and encouragement if we make it part of our everyday conversation
Scripture explains the process of sanctification brilliantly and its wonderful to see is used right away in the book of Acts
SLIDE 11
Acts 20:32 (NASB95)
32 “And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Paul tells all believers in 2 Thessalonians this beautiful work God is doing in us through Christ and His Spirit
SLIDE 12
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (NASB95)
13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
And again in 1 Corinthians
SLIDE 13
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NASB95)
30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
God so desires to have us set apart to Him that it is even one of the names for God
SLIDE 14
Another wonderful blessing of what Christ has done for us is that He works through grace, His Holy Spirit and so much more in setting us apart and conforming us more and more in His image
SLIDE 15 “SANCTIFICATION / POTTERS HANDS”
Our next point for enduring to the end
SLIDE 16
“ENDURING TO THE END”
1)Continue Sanctification (a process)
2)Grow in Faith
If I were wanting to get encouraged in having more faith or be built up in more faith, the famous chapter in the whole bible would be Hebrews chapter 11
SLIDE 17 “FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE HOPED FOR”
The very first verse of Hebrews 11 gives us the foundation for faith or the focus to maintain for faith
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
If you wanted the biblical definition fro faith it would be
SLIDE 18
FAITH (πίστις, pistis). Reliance upon and trust in God; a central emphasis of Christianity.
The Apostle John does something very amazing in the first chapter of the book of John
He is proving the case that Jesus is God through the whole book but in the first chapter he is proving that the Word became flesh
I love what John says in these three verses her in chapter one
SLIDE 19
John 1:16–18 NASB95
16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
This is like a super wonderful pat on the back or booster for our faith to have in God
Grace is so amazing as we sing it but to have grace upon grace is just so over the top for us to have in Jesus
In verse 18 there we see how the first point we saw of being ready for Christ return is “knowing Him”
We see faith in action in verse 18 “no one has seen God, but by our walk with Christ, God is revealed and explained.
This verse connects us to Romans 10:17 and we see the beauty in this how it connects
SLIDE 20
Romans 10:17 NASB95
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Paul just uses Scripture from Isaiah 53 right before this stating “Lord who has believed our report” Paul saying not all heeded the good news of Isiah 53
But we have grace upon grace, we have the gift to walk with Christ, we have the gift to hear His voice and in that hearing faith comes
SLIDE 21 “ FAITH TELLS ME GOD IS ALREADY THERE”
Paul lays out something really good in the book of Corinthians
It centers around the famous verse we have heard many times.....”for we walk by faith not by sight”
Its really not understood to the fullest because the verses before and after
SLIDE 22 “WE WALK BY FAITH NOT BY SIGHT”
Paul sandwiches this verse here in 2 Cor chapter 5 verse 7 between verses 6 and 8 which really produces in us a groaning type effect that for us faith is the only road for us as followers of Christ
Paul says in verse 6
2 Corinthians 5:6 NASB95
6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord—
see that kinda of groaning or depth from in our hearts developing here in verse 6
Now add “for we walk by faith not by sight”
And then verse 8 follows …here what it says
2 Corinthians 5:8 NASB95
8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
Faith in a way like has 3 active parts in our walk
SLIDE 23
FAITH ACTIVE PARTS
*Covenant Faith- produced in identity or security in Christ
*Epistemological Faith- interpret the world in a Godly way / perceive His work in the world
*Eschatological Faith- all that is hidden now, through faith revealed at Christ return
Our final point for enduring to the end
SLIDE 24
“ENDURING TO THE END”
1)Continue Sanctification (a process)
2)Grow in Faith
3)Live in the Gospel (salvation)
Remind yourself daily of the powerful gospel of salvation and identity as a child of God through Christ Jesus
This is said perfectly in Romans chapter 1....here Paul writes what the gospel has done for him daily
SLIDE 25
Romans 1:16–17 (NASB95)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”
See here how its all connected.....remeber from John chapter 1 we had grace upon grace through the fullness Jesus, then here we see the gospel is the power unto salvation that build even more faith and takes us faith to faith
....what does that mean....faith to faith....well kinda the 3 active parts we talked about Covenant , faith that helps us perceive the world through God’s eyes ....faith in things hidden now but revealed at Christ return
SLIDE 26 “FROM FAITH TO FAITH”
I believe its really every circumstance put before us…our go to is faith to see us through that.....The Lord brings us through that and we look back on that experience to bring us through the next.....faith to faith or faith building stronger every faith experience
We must remember to activate faith with the power of the gospel in our lives
WORSHIP TEAM COME
Last thing that is so important also about living in the gospel
SLIDE 27 “WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION”
This passage from Philippians 2 is so good and will help you so much
You will have more joy, be more free in Christ
What exactly does it mean…explain
Philippians 2:12–13 NASB95
12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
