The Integrity
of our God
Exodus 12:29-51
Context
• The final “strike” has arrived.
• Israel has worshipped, enjoyed their Passover
meal, applied the blood, and now sits safely
under God’s salvation.
• In this section, we see how the fulfillment of
God’s promise propels the believer into obedient
faith.

God Leads His Redeemed
1. God led Israel from Ramses to Succoth
•
•
•
Archeology is unsure of the exact locations but can
guess the vicinity.
Succoth was south/southeast of Ramses (the Holy
Land is east/northeast). The Israelites roughly follow
the shore of the Gulf of Suez. Many believe Succoth
was home to Egyptian-held mines where Hebrew
slaves needed to be retrieved.
Later, God will tell us why He chose the indirect
route (see Exodus 13:17-18)
God Leads His Redeemed
2. God gives further Passover instructions.
•
•
•
The Passover meal was to form a national identity:
no foreigners and total participation.
Foreigners could eat the meal if they took Israel’s
national identity.
The Passover lamb was not to be dissected nor
broken. Whole lambs were taken into home for
multiple families (if necessary).
Applications
• God has taken great pains to fulfill His word so
that we will have the faith to move forward.
• Oftentimes, God’s commands cut across our
culture, instincts, or desires (see Proverbs
14:12).
• Sometimes God’s leading takes us in a curious
(or even painful) direction (see Mark 6:45).
