Justified by Faith
Justified by Faith
Romans 5:1-11
Justified by faith.
In the past few weeks, I have been paying attention to the news, the war in Israel and Gaza and asking myself the question how do I respond to this crises,
How do you respond to a potential world war 3?, where we can do very little about it.
What does our Heavenly Father have to say in situations like that?
We are in the middle of a series on the book of Romans,
Last week Paul concluded his presentation that we are all sinners saved by grace, justified by faith.
But there are some other benefits that we need to be aware off because is part of our gift package.
Let’s pray
Because we are justified by Faith
1 Real Peace- a gift of Salvation
1 Real Peace- a gift of Salvation
Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
When you google peace The definition you find is
freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility:
Jesus tell us about His peace, that is different than the peace the world gives, and he wants to give to us.
Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Shalom in Hebrew, i-rah-nay in Greek
completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord.
This kind of Peace is a consequence a benefit of being justified by faith, declared or made righteous on the side of God.
Through Jesus, who is God and a righteous man, who took upon himself the wrath of God so we could be saved from death and hell, set free from the power of sin, forgiven and given eternal life.
Ex I remember when I was a teenager in my rebellion, and ungodly life, how I struggle, and had no peace, I would go to bed tired but felt very little rest sometimes I was tormented by demons.
But when I surrender my life to Jesus and repent from my sins and my life of selfishness, forgave those who I caried bitterness in my heart against them, accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior, peace came into my life.
A relationship with our Heavenly Father, Son , and the Holy Spirit.
We are in peace with the Father Son and the Holy Spirit, we are no longer enemies of God, He call us His friends.
Joh 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
God wants for us to be in peace with Him with each other and with ourselves,
With each other is not always easy because it will depend on you walking in humility, repentance and forgiveness, but if we make peace with God and each other, you will receive His amazing peace in your heart.
Once you receive it Don’t allow anything to rob your peace.
Every day we make decisions about who is going to rule our day, when we invite Jesus to make decisions for us, and ask for His help, during our struggles, He will give us the wisdom we need and will give us His peace His Shalom from Heaven.
How many times I have waist brain cells and gone through a lot of anxiety trying to resolve problems, on my own, sometimes for me and sometimes for others,
The 5 Steps of Problem Solving
1. Define the Problem.
2. Brainstorm Ideas.
3. Decide on a Solution.
4. Implement the Solution.
5. Review the Results.
I believe I’m a descent problem solver but is so much easier and way less stressful when Jesus is part of the process. If you define the problem inaccurately, you keep moving in circles.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].
2 Grace
2 Grace
Rom 5:2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Grace is the Unmerited favor of God
Rom 5:3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
The word here, for suffering is tribulation, pressure, affliction. Produces enduring patience.
Rom 5:4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Enduring patience, tried character, and character, hope.
Just to give you an idea of life in Rome during the first century.
In the middle of the first century, The people of Rome were tolerant of most religions. that tolerance was largely limited to religions that were polytheistic, Roman authorities didn't care who you worshiped as long as you included the emperor and didn't create problems with other religious groups.
That was a problem for both Christians and Jews who were monotheistic proclaiming the unpopular doctrine of only one God. So they refuse to worship the emperor and acknowledge him as any kind of deity.
For these reasons, Christians and Jews began to experience intense persecution.
Emperor Claudius banished all Jews from the city of Rome in 49 A.D. This decree lasted until Claudius's death 5 years later.
Nero was his successor.
Paul had not been in Rome, he was writing this letter to the church in Rome from Corinth, from Gaius house, at the end of his third missionary trip around 55 AD
The suffering, the tribulation he was referring to, was torture and persecution, people were being lid up as candles on the street corners and also to illuminate Nero’s gardens. No one could be certain that their kids were coming back home that night, or anyone else among family or friends.
Christians began to experience greater persecution under the rule of Emperor Nero -- a brutal and perverted man who hated Christians. And That was only the beginning.
Amazingly, the persecution only became worse near the end of the first century under Emperor Domitian.
Our Heavenly Father will give us the grace to Glory in our tribulations.
Rom 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Rom 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
The difference The righteous person here is the innocent, though for a good man, someone who benefits others who is good to others someone may possibly die .
3 Reconciliation
3 Reconciliation
Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
And really doesn’t matter if we have the chance to do any thing right
Remember the thief on the cross.
Luk 23:39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!"
Luk 23:40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence?
Luk 23:41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
Luk 23:42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
Luk 23:43 Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."
His faith in Jesus saved him, he never did one thing right except to believe.
Rom 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
Rom 5:10 For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Rom 5:11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Reconciliation, God moving us from a place of separation, hurt, and brokenness to a place of healing, wholeness, forgiveness, and reunion with Him.
Because we were justified by faith
We received a gift package that includes.
Real Peace
Grace
Reconciliation
Have you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? Let me give you an opportunity to do so.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Joh 3:16
To receive Him we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, asking Him to be your Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner, I’m sorry for my sins, I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke itand said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
1Co 11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks thiscup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
