Introduction
Hey Everyone, have you been having fun so far?!
what was your favorite part?
I'm so happy that you all came tonight.
And I want to tell you about something amazing.
Do you know what that is?
not quite but that’s a great guess
not quite but thats a great guess.
It's about the incredible gift of forgiveness that Jesus gives us.
Have you ever made a mistake?
I know I have!
But don't worry, because Jesus's forgiveness is always there for us.
Funny story
So I can’t see color very well. I am colorblind so its hard to tell what color is what.
But for a long time I didn’t know I was and I thought I was seeing everything like everyone else was.
But I cant tell if this is green, or this is green, (point to two non-green things)
Wait neither are? Ok so that proves my point I cant see colors well.
I remember being in elementary school and doing art projects
----------
now my teacher should have forgiven me because it was just a mistake
and I needed to show forgiveness too when he was mean to me for something that wasn’t my fault
So do you all know What Forgiveness is?
Forgiveness is like a big eraser for the mistakes we make.
It's when we say, "I'm sorry," and the other person says, "I forgive you."
It's like starting fresh and clean, just like a brand-new day.
The Story of the two debtors
In the Bible, Jesus told a story about a two men that owe’d people money
the first man owed a king money
Matthew 18:24 (ESV)
When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand bags of gold.
the man was unable to repay this money to the king
Matthew 18:26–28 (ESV)
So the servant fell on his knees, begging him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver, and seizing him, he began to shake him, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe me.’
so then this man was brought back to the king
And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’
Jesus is like that forgiving king who forgives us when we make mistakes.
He wants to show us forgiveness and his love for us. us back to His love and forgiveness.
Jesus's forgiveness is the greatest gift we can receive.
When we make mistakes, we can turn to Jesus and ask for forgiveness, just like the the man that owed the king money.
Forgiving Others
Just as Jesus forgives us, He wants us to forgive others.
after the king forgive the first man of his huge debt and mistake he turned around and wouldn’t forgive someone else for a small debt and mistake.
when jesus shows is forgiveness he wants us to show that same forgiveness to others
Remember, forgiving doesn't mean we forget, but it means we choose to let go of our anger and hurt.
Forgiving others is like sharing Jesus's love with the people around us.
Jesus's Forgiveness
Jesus showed us the greatest example of forgiveness when He sacrificed Himself for our sins.
He forgave all our mistakes so that we can have a loving relationship with God.
When we believe in Him, we receive His forgiveness as a gift.
Forgiveness is a special gift because it frees our hearts from anger and sadness.
When we forgive and ask for forgiveness, we feel lighter, happier, and closer to God.
