MIRACLE OFFERING SUNDAY

Genesis 8:20–22 (ESV)

20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Genesis 9:1 ESV

1 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

Miracle Offering Sunday: “the Miracle of a SEED.”

its the little things in LIFE that make life SO GOOD. isn’t that the saying? But its so true - I love the little things - I loved sitting on the couch yesterday after doing a bunch of fun things with the kids on our sabbath. Kicking back on the couch with a snack, a sweet tea, a blanket & the rugby World Cup final. Its the litte things

Ive come to appreciate the little things: that must be the older I get….

The small pleasures. the things that make life that little more comfortable.

The simple things as well.

But here is the thing: There is alot of things in LIFE that begin small - But end up BIG

Big Things come from Small Packages!

Alot of BIG Things in LIFE, start SMALL.

Think about a seed. Its TINY - but it is the beginning process of some big things!

Many many things start small. Think about other things in LIFE: They often start with a thought, a VISION. Then they GROW Big - Tall - Become a blessing to the world around it..... You see were tapping into something supernatural here. A lot of people think that things just have a process and it is what it is. The world thinks that way - That You SIMPLY start and you finish something but the world isn’t SPIRITIUAL you see.

1 Corinthians 2:14 “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

1 Corinthians 2:14 MSG

The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion.

But we read and we learn and God shows us! So we can interpret the way he does thingS

I want to talk about the MIRACLE that is A SEED in the Kingdom. Not the FRUIT. Not the Blessing necisaarily… but the SMALL, SIMPLE SEED.

You see its the seed that’s PLANTED, Thats SOWN in SOIL, that then goes on to produce a MIGHTY Harvest….

Because I believe we are in the SEED ZONE right now as a CHURCH:

What can we learn here about the Miracle of God when it comes to the seed - THe First thing that we see God say to NOAH or GIVE to NOAH is his formula or pattern of doing things

2 Points today (then we’ll give - Thats point 3) but the first is a reminder…. The second a challenge. Are yo ready?

1.LEARN THE RYTHMS

“As long as there is this earth business” - Here are the Rhythms..... Here is the process by which i work.

We dont work in Weeks o quarters, or even years - We work in seasons.

Seed Time & Harvest!

Genesis 8:22 ESV

Gods people are seasonal people - Faithful in EVERY SEASON but working in seasons.

We are sowing and reaping people! did you know that the accumulation of your life is caught up in those two things: you SOW. and You REAP. You put in the ground. You take out of the GROUND.

“to place or scatter (seeds) in or on the ground for future growth.”

How do you approach LIFE with God? - do you want to instantly see the fruit or are you willing to work with the seed?

Proverbs 11:18 ESV

18 The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.

In an instant gratification socity and culture this is a word for some people - SEED TIME.... AND HARVEST. Gods process. Now our PROCESS.

Seed can be scattered,

Seed can be stored

Seed can be sowed into GOOD GROUND> watered & used.

The world has it backwards!

What madman would think that from THIS (hold up a small seed)

Would come this (put up a picture of the redwood?)

I just wonder what situation you are in, what difficulty you are facing, what dream is in your heart - That could seem like its along way

Maybe its a drea, to start a business that will bless you and your family - and build the church

Maybe its a breakthrough in a key relationship, with your Child, your marriage, your family

Maybe its something you have a LONGING for something in your life -

What seed can you sow today in the ground - that will become a harvest ABOVE the ground

The ground in our days, our lives, our efforts, our faith

Im just telling you - SEED TIME. Harvest. Seed Time. Harvest. Seed time. Harvest. We follow the GODLY Rythyms.... and we LET HIM TAKE CARE OF THE INCREASE!

There is a coming Harvest. Do you see it?

Do you see why we need to make ROOM in our House for the MANY who will come. Were

the form, the sight, the smallness.

The form is what we often care about - whats VISUAL.

It often looks too basic. Like there is no WAY that it could do that much.

We don’t often focus on the potential.

Jesus said thats all we should focus on because if we do our part with the SEED - GOD DOES his part with the growing & the producing.. & the blessing:

Matthew 13:31–32 ESV

He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

Another story. “God’s kingdom is like a pine nut that a farmer plants. It is quite small as seeds go, but in the course of years it grows into a huge pine tree, and eagles build nests in it.”

What could come of a seed?

When Jill and i moved back to St Augustine - we bought a house. Over by the beach. it had a large living room. like kinda oversized.... and i know why. God wanted to use it for this:

How do you do that?

You follow JESUS

you Read the word

You get full of the HOLY SPIRIT

you engage your FAITH muscles.

**how you play into this: what are you believing for? what are you hoping for? what is going on right now that is such that you need a miracle? You need to see the miracle of the harvest come in?

You purpose in your HEART to sow when its time to SOW and to reap when its TIME to reap.

Sowing and reaping are just what we do
