What We Value: The DELTA | Romans 12 | Pastor Jose Brevil

Last week we looked at core values for believers and last week. We looked at five essential qualities or core values that all believers should strive for that. We should live by a woman's 12 pretty much outline how the Christian should live. It's all about relationship. You know, how we live with one another in other words really talking about the essential qualities. We should live by as Believers. It's kind of like, what do you live by as a Believer and the key to the message from last week as we're looked at was that the way that we Live will prove what we truly believe the way that we live I'll proves what we truly believe so pretty much our actions will show what we truly believe. So we saw five essential qualities or call values that are all believers should try for should live by the first one. We saw was a believer's need to live a life of transformation. If you have come to Christ and your life have never changed your life. I've never been transformed you really cannot claim that you have chance. If you remember the example of the caterpillar if a caterpillar stay in the caterpillar all their life, but never transformed into a butterfly caterpillar has never lived Willie because God goal for the caterpillar was to become a butterfly the caterpillar state. Was simply a transitional place but a lot of us as Believers, we just stay in the transitional state where we need to be but never fully become what God has created for us to do and as Believers if we never get friends for me, if we never change really will never know what God has in store for us and we saw that there were several things that God has called us guy that said that we need to give our bodies completely to him. We need to give our mine to him and we need to give our will to him so our bodies whatever we do we do it with our body. So God is saying 8 I want all of you. As you live the life. God says 8 I want all of you not only your body but I also want your mind and I want your will for me. So God is saying AAA. I don't want just like a commission. I don't want to tip but I want you to give me the real deal still like the way that you look at it as it is.

You know the story about the the chicken and the pig that I've told you before the chicken and the pigs going down the street and they sell it at a place that has that ate eggs and bacon needed. And then the the the the chicken says oh, that's easy. Let's do it. I got asking you got bacon. I'll give them some eggs and you give them some bacon. And the pig said you must be crazy for you is just a country bution, but for me, it's a sacrifice. There's another get bacon. The pig has to die but to give eggs. The chicken does not have to die. But everything a lot of us the way we leave the Christian Life is that we just give contributions. We just give God contributions here and there but we never fully give our life to God, but but we don't mind giving a little contribution, you know here and there once in a while I show up to church. I'll show up to Bible study or I'll help somebody once in awhile. I'll give once in awhile. I'll do this and I'll do that and I'll do that you name it, but we never really give our life to God like saying that all of me belongs to God all that. I have belongs to God all my life belongs to God like my very life is the fine by God and that's a problem that we have in the Christian Life today where we don't have enough transform people that truly give their whole life to God, but it's Dad. We just given contributions here and there but never will. I give the bacon. We only giving the eggs see the bottom line is that if you have not been transformed God can not use you and you will never get to experience fully what that all that God has for you and wants to do flu you unfortunately a lot of us as Believers will never get to experience that because we only focus on giving contributions, but we don't want to give our whole life to God then the next thing the next core values that we need to strive to live by is that of humility Believers have to live a life of humility all of us like to live Pride for life. We want to lift our heads up. The guy says hey what I want from you is a life of humility CU militie is a sign. We have come to recognize that whatever abilities skills or resources rehab are simply a result of the grace of God in our life. Does the Bible says every good and perfect gift comes from who they come from God so we cannot take credit for anything because everything that we have is from God, then the next core values or essential qualities. We saw it was death of unity. God Natalie calls us to a life of transformation or life of humility, but he also calls us to do our life of your of of unity.

Don't like to live in unity. We don't do the things that will unite but instead we typically do the things that will divide you see the bottom line is that we are more alike than we realize regardless of our differences and God Wills that we live in unity, but God wants for you what God wants for me is that we would live in unity with one another not only God calls us to a life of transformation or life of humility a life of unity, but also God calls us to a life of service. God calls us to a life of service. And the bottom line is that the Christian Life is a life of service to one. Another life is not about you. And the sooner that you figure that out the better it will be for you. We are too much on our minds. It's about my ways what I have planned what dreams would goals I need to accomplish in life do about me but never really about the other but that's Christians. Our life needs to be a life of service to others. And then lastly last week. We saw that we need to live a life of selflessness or a life of selfless love. We need to live a life of selflessness or a life of Selfless Love. Does a life really all of it really could be summarized in love because everything we do has to do with love Christ died for us because of love and everything that we do in life. We need to do it as well because of love the bottom line is the more you do as you pleased the less you'll be pleased with what you do God created you to be other centered and to strive for healthy relationship with one another we are always on our mind and the more that we only focus on ourselves. The last will realize that we are pleased with what we do while we're pursuing this thing. That's what I want. I want and then after we got it, we realize that oh probably that's not what I really wanted cuz I just spoke it on myself too much but God calls us to a life of Other centeredness so what does that mean for our church? This is where we left off last a time. What does this mean for our church here at our church. The core values that we live by is what we summarized in the Delta as relieving the Delta. So we call it the Delta any comes from that same scripture just routed into those the taxing woman's 12. We just looked at and the first one is for the D in the Delta is diversity celebration diversity celebration. Just like when we saw it last week about Unity. So as a church, we were going to celebrate diversity. We want to celebrate people from all different backgrounds different ethnicities different race people from Des. Generations we want to celebrate diversity. We want to celebrate one another if you remember in the tax in Romans 12 verse 3 to 5. It says for by the grace given to me. I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to fake but fake with sober judgment. We are all like tribal people. We like to always think that our culture that our upbringing it was better than everybody else. We like to look and says is my race is superior than all other race, but God is saying that so you should not think of yourself more highly than you ought to face, but you need to think about yourself with sober judgment eat according to the measure of faith that God has a sign for Isaiah. 1 baby we have what may be members. We all are different even all of us who might be looking same skin color, but we all have different backgrounds. We were raised differently. We we have a different mind but God is saying For Eyes in one body. We have many members God is saying that we are all different and God says like we need to celebrate our differences instead of seeing that as something that. Causes problems, but instead God is saying hey, we need to see that as a plus For Eyes in one body. We have many members and the members do not all have the same functions. We do what you can do I can do and what I can do you can do so weed though many are one body. Christ and individually members of one another God is calling us and to say that when we look at one another we should be glad that we are different that we are not the same in Colossians 1 and Genesis 1:27 says so God created the mess in his Own image in the image of God. He created him male and female. He created them. So everybody that you see they were created in whose image. God's image do we really have the luxury of just looking at people we think that they were not made in God's image that we look down on people. We don't have that luxury. God says everybody was created in His image and as such we need to respect life, we need to respect everybody that God puts in our life because all of us were created in His image and look at John 17:21. It says that they may all be one that Unity. Just ask you father are in me. And I in you that they also may be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me to God. It said yeah, that's divisions among Christians. The world will not know him the world will not know that we are real you saying like, you know, what can I make a difference that when the heat's when people outside since Christians United celebrating their diversity that's when people will know that we are truly do we claim to be as believe this but the more than we fight one. Another people will look on it as a big saying they're Christians, but there's nothing of our unit see that really proves that we are believers. Our churches are usually now especially where we are also other countries segregated by race.

And that's why I charge has the typically people look on that. We took that got seriously. So we all claiming to be Believers, but we have to Worship in separate houses of worship because weekend at the life of one another so as a result our message not have the same power that it should have goes even among Believers. We are divided because we sleep in separate houses and people looking at it and look at this is a white church or this is a black shirt sympathetic Church. They are the results in that just diminishes the power of the Gospel a church needs to be a church that a white church not a black church in an expanding should but it's too big the Church of Jesus Christ. It needs to be Christ Church or everybody from all race or ethnicity or background of Welcome. All generations are welcome and worship together. Genuinely, Julie not faking it but being real and truly loving one another and if we would have more of those churches where we are truly United where we are celebrating that versity we would truly see a true Revival where people look when it says I want what they have because of the way that I see that they do life with one another. Revelations 7:9 says after I after this I looked and behold the great multitude that no one could number from every nation from all tribes and people that language is standing Before the Throne and before the lamb clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands. What did you see people there? You see people from all tribes All Peoples all languages standing Before the Throne of God in heaven. Everybody will be there people from every corner of the earth will be there so we can that live alive where we are the fight that you seek right calls us to Oneness any other nests. None of our Blackness that I would like Nest not our Asian mess that our aesthetic nurse, whatever you want to call it Christ calls us to one less. That's a me other nests and a lot of us. We pick our culture over Christ. We may not see Edward, but our Blackness is more important to us than our Christ or our whiteness is more important to us than our Christ for our Asian Mist comes first before Christ, but Christ needs to be first. But if you look a lot of us, we will do things based on our culture. We not turning by our back in our culture, but we will do everything for our culture. We need to represents our culture, but we forget that Christ comes first. It's our Christ that is more important not our any other nests that we might want to pick because Christ causes us to Oneness that a second core value that we espouse. There's a church is Excellence more specifically excellence in Ministry or service excellence in Ministry or service in Romans 12 verse 6 to 8. It says having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us. Let us Used them God gives you it is for you to use physics prophecy in proportion to our faith if service in our serving the one with teaches in his teaching and exhort in his exaltation the country Buttes in generosity and the one who leaves with Zeal. The one with does acts of Mercy which Shuffle it so you'll Paul is trying to say is our attitude is the key here when it comes to service if we have a bad attitude. It doesn't matter what we do how we serve is worthless. But Paul is saying that we need to do it with the right attitude. You see if we are doing acts of Mercy if we're helping somebody was Ahmid but we doing as a Drago man. I don't want to help them. It's worthless. If we didn't do it with cheerfulness, if we're leaving we didn't do it like with with Zeal that ain't I really want to lead. I want that opportunity to leave it saying that a. That's going to warfit. It says everything that we do we need to do it with the right attitude. It says if we exhorting people will exhorts with excitation says if we're contributing like if we're giving it means we need to do it with generosity if we were giving it over like I don't know if I should give us the wrong attitude cuz it needs to be with generosity. I'm giving because I want to give that if you're teaching that you really wants to teach If you preaching witches prophecy, you do it with the right attitude attitude matters. When you serve Colossians 3:17 says in whatever you do in word or deed do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the father flew him and whatever you do in word or deed do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the father flew him. The attitude needs to be whatever I'm doing. I'm doing it for Christ. I'm doing it for Christ. I'm not doing it for the pastor. I'm not doing it for the leader of that Ministry, but I'm doing it for Christ and when I do it for Christ Do it with the right attitude Colossians. 3:23 says the same thing whatever you do work hardly as for the Lord and not for men whatever you do when you show up for church you show up for who? For Christ you don't show up for me when you show up. I'm happy but you don't show up for me you show up for Christ. Whatever you do when you serve at the church. I'm happy you serve but you don't do it for me. You do it for Christ. Whatever you do work hard and lie as for the Lord not for men to your workplace as well. Not thinking that I'm doing this for my boss. But as a believer in their workplace, your boss is crying. So whatever you do when you do at the workplace, you do it as if you doing it for Christ you have to do it with excellence and you have to do it. Well, you do in yet as if you are doing it for Christ not for your employer if it needs to be done it needs to be done. Right? So why the whether you eat or drink, whatever you do do all to the glory of who? To the glory of God felt whatever we do. We do all to the glory of God. So the bottom line is if something needs to be done, it must be done. Well, if something needs to be done, it must be done well, Not only God calls us to a life of diversity diversity celebration or service or life of excellence in service. But also got causes to leadership in the community. God calls us to a life of leadership Christians are leaders Christians are leaders. God calls us to be leaders in our respective community in our workplace in our school. Wherever we go. God calls us to be leaders as we look at Romans 8 verse 9 through 21 there. We see leadership and that leadership in the community is done flew love. It says bless those who persecute you before in verse 19 says let love be genuine hate what is evil holdfast to What is good they look you'll see pretty much it's just how we can bless our community. We love one another with brotherly affection. When we loving one another that's what we are being a blessing to our community because we are removing the hate. It says I'll do one another in showing other when we showing honor to one another our communities is getting better. Cuz we not having all the bickering that we have. It says don't be slothful in Zeal but be serving in spirit serve. The Lord is there is rejoicing how be patient in a hard time and be cancelling prayer. If his contributions to the needs of the Saints and seek to show Hospitality 50 more people are showing Hospitality in our community. Our community would be better if we are helping those who are in need in our community and that Justin. Christian Community, but also and Beyond it's becoming a better Community says bless those who persecute you bless do that curse. See if more of us would do that in our community would we have a better Community where we blessing people and that pricing but not a cursing them but it says Rejoice with those who Rejoice weep with those who weep one thing that destroys communities jealousy, but if we loving that way then there is no room for jealousy and as such our community will be better to live in harmony with one another live in harmony with one another do not be haughty but associated with the lonely never be wise in your own sight, you know, if we live that way we will have a great Community. It says we paid no one evil for evil but give Tut to do what is a normal in the side of all and it says If possible so far as it depends on you live peaceably with all you know, if you're living with peace with everybody what a beautiful thing that would be and it says beloved never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God. For it is written vengeance is mine. I will repay says the Lord. This is vengeance is mine. I will repay says the Lord.

So really what is saying that as Christians when we do that act as Christians, we are no good because it says it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and shrimp or under people's feet when believers do not act as Believers. We are no good. We are worthless. We just like the place just to be walked on but God is saying as Believers we need to be solved. We need to be alight. That's why Jeremiah 29:7 says seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into Exile and pray to the Lord on its behalf for in it. Be a few will find your welfare is a Sikh The welfare of the city where I have sent you an EXO pray to the Lord on its behalf for in its welfare. You will find your welfare. So as Believers, we need to pray for our community. We need to seek to do good in our community. We need to seek the welfare of our community. We need to take the lead and by loving our community as Believers. We need to learn to love our community well and set good examples. We need to learn to love our community well and set good examples. For our community Linda T in the Delta a stands for transformation. We need to be transformed by his word for she is purpose. We need to be transformed by his word for his purpose its transformation. That's what we saw in Romans 12 verse one and two it says I appeal to you therefore Brothers by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a Living Sacrifice. Holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. It says do not be conformed but be transformed all of us tend to be conformed to the culture instead of being a force for transformation our culture would like to confirm to whatever is going on. But God says You need to stand out as Believers. Don't be a conformist but be a Transformers don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that by testing you may discern. What is the will of God what is good and acceptable and perfect. The God is saying hey, that's how you need to live. You need to live a transformed life by he's worth in 2nd Corinthians, 5:14 and 15. It says For the Love of Christ controls us. Because we have concluded this that one has died for all therefore all have died and he died for all that those who live might no longer live for themselves. But for him for their sake died and was raised. So once we turn to Christ, do we have a life any longer our life now is found in who? Our life is now found in Christ. Remember the Danish proverb what you are is God's gift to you. And what you do with yourself is your gift to God delicious. 220. Paul says the same thing it says I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer. I will live but Christ who lives in me and the life, I now live in the flesh. I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer. I will live but Christ who lives in me the life. I now live in the flesh. I live how By faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. So just like Christ gave his life for us. We should do the same give our life to him about us. But about him you see Christ must be the object of our greatest affection Christ must be the object of our greatest affection. Some of us the object of our greatest affection is our job or it might be a spouse or girlfriend or it might be a kid or maybe money. Whatever it is you name it might be pleasure and pretend minutes. That's the object of our affection. But the greatest object of our affection must be Christ Christ must be the object of our greatest affection and lastly, is that a for authenticity in the Delta. So we see diversity celebration. Excellent Ministry leadership in the community transformation transformed by the word and then lastly authenticity God calls Believers to authentic relationship. God calls Believers to authentic relationship. Look at verse 9 in the New Living Translation. It says don't pretend to love others really do what really love them. Don't pretend to love others really love them. That's why God calls us to God calls us to true love Romans 13:8 says, oh no one anything except to Love each other for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law already asked Jesus. What is the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart all your soul with all your mind with all your strength and he says the second is like it that you love others as your self. She looking 1st Thessalonians 3 verse 12 it says and may the Lord make you increase and abound in what love for one another and for all as we do for you. So the Christian Life is a life of love in John 13 verse 34 to 35 Jesus put it this way. He said the new commandment I give to you that you love one another. Chastise I have loved you that makes it really hard. A new commandment. I give to you that you love one another. That's enough but it says just as I have loved you and we know how Jesus loved us. He gave his life for us. So God calls us to sacrificial love for one. Another you also are to love one another and then he's a qualifier by this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another. So God says people outside will know that you are truly Believers by Your Love by your Unity with one another you see a Harvard study was done and they the conclusion was that good relationship Keeps Us happier and healthier social connections are good for us think too many of us live in isolation and just hold on to things just to our self but really It's not good for us relationship all the way to go at the end of the life. We're seeing that the people will leave longer a people who had meaningful relationship in their lives nnnnn with that steady and they show it was the study that was in like over 75 years. They say that those people who had good meaningful relationship in real life live longer happier and had a healthier life in a nutshell. God wants you to be all in with him and value what he values God wants you to be all in with him and he wants you to Value what he values what God values that values transformation values humility values Unity got volumes service to one another and God values that we truly love one another selflessly then we celebrate diversity Among Us that we excel in Ministry in whatever that God has called us to do did we do it? Well, then we take little ship in our community then we learn to love our community and do the things that blesses. Our community and God calls each one of us to be transformed by his word that we truly live according to his were not forwarding to our own way. And God wants us to build strong Godly and healthy relationship where we become transparent with one another so that we can surely live the life that God has called us to do to live. So God calls us. God wants us to be all in with him and value what he values. To a question for you today. Is that ate? What do you value? What do you value father? May you help each one of us to do some healthy. It's dumb self-examination today. And think back and see the way that we live our lives to see what we truly value and help each one of us would die, too.

Make it change today. Got to Value what the culture value? but rather That we value what you value? So father help each one of us here this morning. To do just that value what you value? It's in Jesus name we pray.
