Abundance by the Spirit

Galatians 5:16-26

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law.

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

The Flesh is a Fruitless Force. It’s consequential but weeds.

Seed-Bearing

The Flesh - Obvious, Instictive-Animalistic. Natural instincts are to go against the Spirit.

It you bit and devour you can be destroyed by each other. You should be able to answer What Would Jesus Do?

1 Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

Acts are quick. Fruit takes time development.

Fruit - sweet fleshy product of a tree or plant that contains seed. Soil, Light, Water. Planted in God’s Word.

Fruits are reproductive by nature. Seed-bearing. ABUNDANCE - something.

3  He is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

Jesus reflected all the fruits - we can’t be one fruit people.

In the image of his son.

5:25 - Walk by the Spirit

Trials - He will lead me to places where I could develop this fruit. Orchards and Vineyards are grown on hills. May take you uphill.

Change - Rotate my fields where I can continue to grow.

Pruning - Can be painful but he is focusing your growth in a certain direction.

Seasonal -Store up the Fruits. Fruit grows in different seasons and we need a storehouse.

John 15:5-8 NIV

The New International Version Chapter 15

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
