WHO IS JESUS?
Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, “You are the Son of God!” And He earnestly warned them not to tell who He was.
INTRODUCTION:
Names and Titles are very important in the WORD OF GOD, for they REVEAL the TRUE nature of the one to which they are attached.
JESUS WAS DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD:
BY GABRIEL—Announcing the BIRTH of Jesus.

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
BY SATAN—The Temptation was done on the BASIS of Jesus being the Son of God.
Concerning who Jesus is, there was no doubt in the minds of the demonic spirits which Jesus encountered. Satan certainly knew who Jesus was, and he attempted to use that knowledge to get Jesus to vindicate Himself. Two times during the temptation, Satan states: “If You are the Son of God...” (Matt. 4:3 ,6)

and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will command His angels concerning You’; and ‘On their hands they will bear You up, So that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ ”
BY THE DEMONIC SPIRITS—They KNEW Him to be the Son of God.
In the Gospel of Mark, on three occasions the demonic spirits gave witness to the true identity of Jesus:
Mark 1:24 (NASB95)
saying, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; and shouting with a loud voice, he said, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”
BY GOD THE FATHER—Who ACKNOWLEDGED Him to the His Son
and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”
Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”
BY HIS DISCIPLES—Who DISCOVERED Him to be the Son of God

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.

POWER of God Expressed
PERSON of God Exampled
PURPOSE of God Accomplished: The CROSS and RESURRECTION are the Ultimate Declaration that He is God’s Son.

Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
2. THE REAL ISSUE WE MUST SETTLE TODAY: WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?
Our UNDERSTANDING of the Nature of Jesus does not DETERMINE Who He is—It simply REVEALS our KNOWLEDGE of Jesus.
A CORRECT UNDERSTANDING of Who Jesus Is must come from the WORD OF GOD, and NOT the CULTURE in which we live—OR EVEN our OWN Thoughts!
AS THE SON OF GOD—JESUS deserves my UNRESERVED Acknowledgement and WORSHIP.
AS THE SAVIOR of the World—JESUS deserves my UNCONDITIONAL Devotion, Trust, and Confidence.
AS THE SOVEREIGN LORD over All—JESUS deserves my COMPLETE Obedience.
AS THE SHEPHERD of My Soul—JESUS deserves my Daily CONFIDENCE and Trust.
