What God says about life

Just a bit of a recap:
The first four commandment talk about our relationship with God, and the last six about our relationships with each other.
Matthew 22:37–38 NIV
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
These commandments sum up the Law (Ten Commandments and the Prophets)
What Commandments have we learned so far?
You shall have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:4 NIV
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
3. Exodus 20:7

In Matthew 22:39
Matthew 22:39 NIV
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Last week we looked at the 5th Commandment
Exodus 20:12 NIV
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Today, we want to look at the sixth commandment
Exodus 20:13 NIV
“You shall not murder.
Jesus even talked about how we value other people as far as if we hate people.
Sometimes people can be really mean and do things to us that can make us even hate them, but Jesus said that if we hate somebody, it’s like committing murder.
Each one of us are valuable to God. He made us in His lmage.
Today I want to tell you about a couple of brothers that you have probably already heard of: Cain and Abel.
Who were their parents?
Adam and Eve
In Genesis 4, Cain worked the soil, today he would have been a grain farmer, and Abel had flocks. He was a shepherd.
One day they decided that they wanted to sacrifice offerings to the Lord,
Genesis 4:3–5 NLT
When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift—the best portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.
Genesis 4:6–7 NLT
“Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”
Cain was so angry that he began to hate his brother. One day, Cain asked Abel to go to the field with him.
While they were out in the field, Cain attacked Abel and killed him.
Anger is a weapon that satan will use to destroy us if we allow it to.
It can cause us to become resentful. It can become like a root. and it can grow up and destroy us even to the point that we would decide to kill somebody, just like Cain did.
We need God’s love in our hearts.
Ephesians 4:31–5:2 NLT
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Now we are going to watch Douglas talks.
Matthew 5:21–22 NLT
“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.
To close, God knows who we are from the inside out, and He sees the anger and hatred we are carrying, even if others around us don’t see it.
Even though we may never physically kill anyone else, we still need to deal with any bad feelings or thoughts we may have towards someone else.
The next time you become angry, remember Jesus’ words to love our enemies, control our temper, to replace hatred and anger with forgiveness and self-control. It’s always better to obey God.
Let’s pray!
